Nice little vise for the bench. Wilton has outsourced a lot of their small vise manufacturing to other countries, this one was manufactured in the CK Republic, I believe, they did a nice job.

Had to disassemble vise and clean spindle with wire wheel to remove metal shavings left from manufacturing. Also had to smooth barrel channel in base and file/sand one of the guide pins that was very rough. Main barrel had a small gouge from metal left in guide from manufacturing. Also had to make sure spindle nut was not too tight. Bottom of base was too rough to have the vise swivel easily. I ground it down a bit. Once I removed all the metal shavings/debris and smoothed/sanded where needed it is perfect. This vise says it was made in the Czech Republic. ... show more

I wanted a nice little vise for my home workbench. I didn't want a Chinese vise (had one before and it was terrible) and there really aren't any new American vises in this price range. This Czech made "Wilton" fit the bill perfectly. Out of the box it was a bit stiff although it broke in quickly. The jaw opening isn't very deep and if you go too far it takes a little finagling to get the screw started again. A simple sharpie line solved that problem. The swivel base is pretty hokey although I don't really use it. It only has about 35 degrees of travel off center, it doesn't have a center pivot point and as far as I can tell the mating surfaces are not machined. ... show more

This is a great little adjunct vise. It’s very tight and compares to its big brother the 400S that I’ve had for almost 50 years. My only complaint is that a bit more jaw opening would be great. By the time you add jaw pads, the max capacity is reached quickly. I’ve used it to hold 2” tube steel while cutting with a hand held band saw. ... show more

Rolled the dice on this Chinese produced Wilton. Lost. The grind for the mating surface between the base and the body is shallow and off-center. Being off-center this will not swivel unless it rides up out-of-center, which causes the vise to move in any direction except rotational. Any attempt to rotate leads to instant binding. The jaws do open and close, so that's something? At best a $25 vise. ... show more

I love my American made Wilton vises that I paid top dollar for. This vise is Chinese made, good for odd jobs and if it breaks then you don't care because you didn't pay a lot for it. For the price and what I want to use it for this vise is perfect.
