I measured out exactly 2 1/2 cups of batter like the directions say. As you can see by the picture, it overflowed. The second time I used it, I filled it half way. That worked much better. The mold works great. I used it to make a "fishing bobber" birthday cake.

If you’re using box cake, I would bake 2 boxes. The cake seems small, but one cake box didn’t bake to the rim for me. I think if you can bake it to the rim then cut off what rises above it, then it’s a perfect sphere. I did cut off a little of the bottom so it was flat and easy for me to decorate. Also, the pans can dent easy, but it’s not a big deal if you’re frosting it. ... show more

Not as a heavy metal as I thought. Worked well but must be careful handling, dent very easily. But worked well and we had a poke’ ball cake. Wish it would have come with instructions on how long to cook and how full to fill the pan.

These are made from a very thin aluminum, think soda can, and can bend easily. I also would not feel comfortable stacking them inside each other or anything else inside them without padding in between. As far as baking goes, however, they have the Wilton quality you would expect. Even baking, non-stick quality (provided they are prepped beforehand), and I was able to make a sphere easily! ... show more
