  • Would buy again with zero hesitation
I'm really pleased with my Wike Heavy Duty Flatbed trailer. It arrived quickly in great condition despite a couple of torn holes in the box. (Update: one side rail arrived slightly bashed on its tail end. I mostly straightened it out. The plastic cap took the brunt of the impact.) I was leery of grabbing a lower-priced trailer. Reviewers sometimes criticized their welds. Others expressed satisfaction only after modding them to remedy a defect or deficiency. I wanted a solid floor, not a fabric bottom. I don't need a canopy or stroller, either. I saw one trailer that converts to a hand cart, but unfortunately that one has a fabric bottom too. The Wike Heavy Duty got my nod by default. The Wike costs more, but -- now that I've seen it -- it's totally worth it. I'd buy this trailer again with zero hesitation. The pictures look good and the quality in person does not disappoint. The body is assembled with heavy aluminum rivets. It's extremely rigid. For some reason I thought it'd be screwed together. Rivets are better -- more secure when locking. ABS brackets and aluminum frame tubes are super-solid. Square tube thickness appears to be 1/16" everywhere. (Update: Slag from pop rivets is trapped inside several tubes. Some of it can be removed, some cannot. Not worth docking a star.) The towbar is made of Al with a steel insert. The floor, while not glass-flat, is thick, strong, and solidly-attached. Wheels are as pictured: 36H alloy rims, sealed-bearing Al hubs, SS spokes. Kenda tires are marked 20" x 1.75". It has rubber wheel caps for covering the axle ends. I didn't check that rim strips were installed. I mention wheel details as you can see variations on the maker's web site (ex; 20H rims). I was concerned but NOT disappointed: the wheels are super-nice. Only caveat is needing a longer QR skewer for the hitch. (I use non-QR allen key skewers.) I also need to mount lights for safety. Finally, square tubing is awkward to lash to compared with round tubes. Note: this trailer differs from Wike's site pictures in minor aspects (no axle cotter pins or redundant towbar strap on mine). The Amazon pictures are 100% accurate, and I'm totally OK with the changes regardless. I always resolve to avoid star inflation, but I must give this trailer five stars. Plus, it's made in Canada (star-free bonus). ... show more

  • Love it! Moved a heavy A/C 4 miles in New York City
Nothing not to like -- easy to assemble, they have a 7-day a week customer service line, it is sturdy, and can haul some heavy stuff. I moved a 60 pound air conditioner from Brooklyn to Manhattan with ease on a single gear bike; 4 miles and crossed the Manhattan Bridge, which has a steep grade. This definitely seems like the best product below $500, before you enter into the real professional bike trailers (which seem AWESOME, but are thousands of dollars). If I was handier and had the time, I would have purchased the do it yourself (DIY) kit from Wike’s website. Ideally, for my purposes, it would be a 2-4 inches wider and 2-3 feet longer. Based on my online research, that is what a lot of the DIY folks want -- Wike should consider making those dimensions available for the non-DIY set. ... show more

  • Worked well for our use
We have been using this trailer for about a week and it works great so far. Smooth ride and is much sturdier than ones we have used in the past, but also costs more. I would expect it will last many years though and would recommend it. My only potential concern would be life of the pliable rubber like green piece that connects to the bicycle hitch, although there is no sign of failure so far. ... show more

  • One Badass Trailer
I bought the Wike Flatbed with cross country traveling in mind. The unit assembled quickly right out of the box. By itself the unit was better than expected. I modified the trailer with an off the shelf trailer tool box. It was a good fit. The box increased my equipment carrying and security capability. I have travelled 8000 miles, gone through 2 sets of tires, and been hit by cars 3 times. With a pop rivet tool I was able to tear down and repair the unit 2 times on the road. At the moment it is still roadworthy despite having a bent trailer arm and needing a new corner support. I am quite satisfied with my trailer and would purchase again. The only thing I would change would be heavier guage aluminum for the frame. Thank you WIKE! ... show more

  • Great, sturdy bike attachment.
Have so far only taken a 6 mile trip with this loaded with 6 firewood logs. Easy to assemble and attach to bike. Seems to be a very sturdy carrier that I'll bet will carry a good 125-150 lbs. I will test again this week this time carrying 3x5 gal water containers. Pedaling with the lumber, about 60 lbs, both up and down hilly terrain was all but effortless and I could easily keep up with my equally good biking partner. I think this is exactly what I was looking for and couldn't be happier. The unit is so constructed that it would be easy to put up 4 sides that would form more of a box to put smaller items into such as for shopping or camping. I look forward to further use-age. ... show more

  • Durability and simplicity go far.
Riveted polypropylene bottom should be bolted on stainless steel panel sheet. Side fence is very helpful to strap in load.

  • Spokes breaking after 18 months
Multiple spokes breaking on either tire after 18 months of intermittent use. Wobbles around when riding and will be trash shortly. I live in southern Florida so maybe the salt is too much but my Trek bike is 16 years old and hasn’t lost a spoke yet. Also can’t be repaired locally for reasonable cost. Bike shop suggested a Burley flatbed and said repairing this one would cost nearly the same as one of those. Not recommended. ... show more
