  • Great control, never owned the original classic controller :\
Color: White
I gave this controller a 5 star rating because when you don't compare it to other controllers it's a really decent controller. Although this controller feels really comfortable when you hold it, it's a bit difficult to get used to when you've played on the GCN Controller for so long. Especially when you are playing SSBB, you have to reach upward diagonally for the (x)/(y) button ( which delays a few milliseconds and leaves you open for an incoming object/attack). While on the GCN Controller you could click ( x ) towards the right when you needed to react quickly. However, this is not a review about the GCN controller. I never owned the original CC since I did not have the money at the time to purchase it. Neither did I have in mind to purchase it because I did not see any use for it until later on. That's when I started purchasing virtual console games and then that's when I realized that the GCN controller did not play well with Super Mario World. So I skipped the original CC since it did not look comfortable to hold for other games besides VC ones and I did not want to purchase it just to play VC games. So months later I stumbled across the Japanese design of the CCP on YouTube while randomly searching up Nintendo items. I took massive interest and I pre-ordered it on Amazon. I waited about 1 month and it finally came in the mail. I really loved the look of the controller, and the feel of it. I first tested it with Super Mario World and it ran really smooth. However, when I started playing SSBB with it, I did not feel as free as I wanted to with the controller, but after practicing and memorizing the layout I got a little used to it, but it felt as if I were learning a whole new experience again. It worked great with Super Sonic Racing though, So no if's or buts there. Anyway, it isn't called the "Classic" controller for no reason, so you can't bombard Nintendo with comments on how this controller could of been better when they made it especially for virtual console games with intentions of including it for other games. Most of us know that the GCN controller is still very comfortable. So hopefully in their next gen console they will keep the design and include wireless features without the need to connect it to the wiimote. Positive Side: + Controller is great for playing SNES/virtual console games + The added handles make it look and feel more comfortable + The R&L analog sticks are more spaced apart making it easier to reach + The cord being upward instead of downward is better Negative Side: - the Zr&Zl button location is a bit spaced out (especially when grabbing in SSBB making it feel awkward) Overall, this is a great controller. I only have minor adjustments that I did not approve of, other then that it's a Viewtiful controller. ^^ ... show more

  • One of my favorite controllers. Excellent d-pad, and grip vs the original wii classic controller.
Color: Black
The feel of the controller is great. The handles on the bottom make a huge difference for comfort, especially with long term or intense gaming when you need a good grip on the pad so your fingers dont slip off as easily. Its compatible with 4 nintendo consoles; Wii, Wii U, NES Classic and SNES classic. The SNES classic. You can also find USB adapters for this unique controller plug, but I havent tested one myself. The d-pad is one of the best nintendo has ever had on a system, other than maybe the N64 one (which wasnt used much). Circle buttons are not mushy, but a little slippery. They are very punchy and responsive. The shoulder buttons are more mushy, but still decent/good. It is somewhat handicapped by requiring a wiimote to use for wii and wii u, and the cord being short, but you can buy extension cords, so its a fixable issue. Its more of an issue if you're buying it for your NES or SNES classic system where you wont be using a wiimote, and plugging it in directly. The only other drawback is the lack of vibration in the controller. ... show more

  • Sleek, Awesome, what more can you say....
Color: Black
Well I had the standard white classic controller...didn't like it very much. It worked just fine but it didn't feel comfortable in my hands. Odd thing too since I grew up with the NES, Genesis and Saturn, so it wasn't just the lack of grips that was odd. But now, they've pretty much fixed every issue with the design and made it perfect. The added grips make it much more comfortable but just as important, they've laid the buttons out to be much more common. Triggers (sort of) and bumpers. Analog sticks are spaced further apart, they feel more comfortable and modern. Its obviously very similiar to a Playstation controller except the analog sticks are not pushable. Any Wii game, wiiware game or virtual console game that supports this thing, this is the one I use. No motion controls for me if I can avoid them...this is my favorite Wii controller. I'll take this over a Gamecube controller too. A truly terrific controller. The Wii Classic Controller PRO version is the way to go. ... show more

  • Can't play Super Mario World without it.
Color: White
We downloaded Super Mario World to add to our ever expanding Mario game collection without realizing that this controller was required to play. First time around I made the mistake of picking up a controller at a local store that looked the same style and said it works with the Wii but that wasn't the right one for the game. So I paid a little closer attention and made wure I was getting the "Wii Classic Controller" which is needed for playing some of the virtual console titles. I was very happy when this arrived and it had the correct connector to connect to the wii remote. We were able to play Super Mario World which I played ages ago on SNES. This controller is far more ergonomic and hence comfy compared to the old SNES type. Works just as well for small hands as large. We have also used it for the original Super Mario download. It takes a while to get the feel for using the controller with different game titles. I take a little adjusting to even using the wii remote for different games but this controller even more so, less intuitive as to what buttons do what. Bottom line, if you want to play the classic virtual console games, this is the controller to buy. ... show more
