I think this is a great product and I was tempted to give it 5 stars but I deducted 1 star because I think that it comes with too few shelves. I was able to contact the company and order two more shelves. It is clear that it only comes with 4 shelves but I think it works better with 6. Maybe the extra shelves will decrease the number of bottles that will fit, but right now 6 shelves is working well for my needs. Otherwise the temperature is pretty steady and I think it looks great. A couple other small complaints the locking mechanism only locks at the bottom and is pretty flimsy. I don't need the lock so its not a big problem. Also the compressor makes a thump when it kicks in which can be a little annoying. The manual said this is normal so I am not worried about it and like I said everything is working great its just a little annoyance. Also should mention the shelves are really sturdy which is good since if you look at the pictures the idea is that you stack a bunch of bottles on each shelf. One other suggestion for improvement. The shelves only pull out a short distance. It would be nicer if they could pull out at least halfway then you could see better what is on each shelf. I suppose I could flip the shelf around and then it would not have the stop and could be pulled out all the way. I like the catch, I just wish it was a little further out. ... show more

Unit is very noisy and runs about every 15 minutes. Live in single story house and it can be heard throughout the house Have had wine cabinet over many years, but none as noisy as this unit I contacted Whynter and this was their response: Thank you for contacting us about your Whynter FWC-1201BB Freestanding Wine Refrigerator. Please provide us with the ambient room temperature and pictures of how your wine cooler is set up at your location. The cooling mechanism of the unit comes on and off depending on your set temperature and the ambient temperature. Also, it is normal for the fan come on and off to circulate the air inside of the unit for even temperature distribution and to save energy. The fan running saves energy by circulating the cool air to avoid the compressor from running too frequently. According to your description, the wine refrigerator is working properly and the cycling on and off is to ensure even internal temperature distribution. Please provide us with the serial number of the unit. The serial number will be located on the rating label sticker. Please reply or refer to your case number if you have any questions. I supplied the requested information, but have not heard back. Will probably be the same as first review. Unfortunately, I can not return it as the packaging was destoyed removing the unit. Will update this, if and when I get a reply. UPDATE Reply received: If you feel that the unit is not functioning properly, please contact the retailer for exchange information. As I stated, packaging material destroyed unpacking the cooler, so not possible to return. UPDATE2 - Great Amazon Customer Service Thank you Amazon for your prompt action in the return of this product. It is being picked up tomorrow. Good value. Although it did take Amazon 3 tries, and 3 half days off of work to get my package successfully delivered, it finally arrived. And I will say that they were attentive in trying to fix the problem each time the fridge did not arrive on time. Anyway, once it came, the movers brought it right in, I plugged in it and was in business! I like the design alot because it fits a bunch of bottles, but there will be ~12-20 bottles per shelf, FYI. Also, it looks pretty classy. I will agree and say it loud enough to notice, even in an apartment in LA with plenty of white noise. But I don't mind, because I know it's doing it's job and keeping my wine safe! If a little background noise doesn't bother you, you'll probably be very happy with this fridge. ... show more

The shipping process was a pain, but it got me a 10% discount so I can live with that. Once I got it setup and level it works like a champ and used a thermometer to verify it's within a degree of what it's set to. The blue LEDs seem pointless because if you have the top row full almost no light gets down to lower levels. The shelves are very deep and I was able to stack bottles in both directions although stacking bottles of different size on a single shelf doesn't really work and is a pain to keep neat. The majority of the bottles I have are larger than a Bordeaux and I was able to fit around 100 without optimizing each shelf for space. I haven't noticed any unusual vibrations from the compressor that the other reviewer mentioned. ... show more

I don't mind a little noise when the compressor runs, but I do mind vibrations. I contacted Whynter regarding the vibrations and was told that "vibration noise" is not uncommon. When I clarified there were physical vibrations on the side of the cooler as well as on the shelves and could feel vibrations through the wine bottles as well. Whynter replied, "Thank you for your reply. We apologize our product was unable to meet your expectations. We have confirmed with our service department the unit is in fact working properly. For any refund/exchange inquiry, please contact the retailer." I contacted Amazon, not sure how something so large would be returned. Apparently this is not a concern for Amazon! 😊 They prepared a called tag and it will be picked up tomorrow. Thank you Amazon! ... show more
