Features

  • TOOL SPECS: Solid carbide, upcut spiral with 1/4" cutting diameter, 1/4" shank, 1" cutting length, and 2-1/2" overall length for use in routers with a 1/4" collet.
  • UP CUT SPIRAL: Ideal for smooth finishes and rapid chip removal. Up cut spirals create a clean edge on the side of the material that is farthest from the router.
  • HELIX: The upward cutting action removes chips efficiently, especially in deep cuts. The spiral helix ensures clean, crisp cuts while outperforming standard straight bits.
  • MULTI-PURPOSE TOOLING: Plunge-capable bit for precision woodworking. Perfect for creating grooves, dados, slots, pockets, and more.
  • MATERIALS: Performs best with hardwoods, softwoods, plywood, MDF, and hard plastics for versatile woodworking applications.
  • MACHINES: Designed for hand-held routers, router tables, and CNC machines in a wide variety of applications.

Description

Whiteside Machine Company has been in the router bit business for over 30 years providing customer with quality products while at the same time striving to achieve complete customer satisfaction. Several woodworking magazines have tested Whiteside versus the competition and selected Whiteside as the winner for best router bits available in the market. Whiteside Machine Company was founded in 1970 as a general purpose machine shop in the basement of Bill & Bobbie Whiteside's home. Located in Western North Carolina near the furniture manufacturing town of Hickory, the company was often involved in making repairs or special parts for the furniture and woodworking field. A strong commitment to customer problem-solving, a can-do attitude, and innovative ideas, along with a growing core of dedicated employees, helped the business evolve into a manufacturer of woodworking equipment and tooling. Primarily through repeat business and referrals, the tooling business continued to grow to meet a demand for quality production router bits as well as custom application tooling. Today, Whiteside Machine occupies a 40,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility and produces a complete line of solid carbide and carbide tipped router bits. Whiteside's quality, innovation, and customer commitment is still present in our superb product line, in the design of custom tooling to fill special customer requirements, and in the development of special machinery and tooling for our own manufacturing use. As always, Whiteside Machine is continuously striving to improve our product through new technology, improved production techniques, and ongoing research and development efforts; along with rigid quality control, vital customer feedback and extensive field testing. Whiteside Machine Company.

  • Half an inch too short
I just want to mention that this bit is only 2-1/2” end to end, so if you’re intending to use it with a Porter-Cable style guide bushing in a mortise routing jig, you’re never going to get the full one-inch (1”) depth of cut. The collet will hit the retaining ring of the guide bushing at about 3/4 ” plunge depth. The P-C guide bushing is roughly 1/2” deep, the retaining ring is about 1/4”, the router base is 1/4” thick, and you need at least 1/2” inside the collet to safely use the bit. You get sparks from the metal-on-metal contact from the router collet hitting the retaining ring of the bushing before you get to a full one-inch plunge depth. This bit should have been at least half an inch longer (i.e. 3” long) to be usable in this configuration. The bit itself cuts fine if you’re using it some other way. Other manufacturers’ bits are 3” long and do not present a similar problem. ... show more

  • Great bit for the price
I use an upcut bit on my CNC machine for most of my cutting boards, and this one does a great job. Stays sharp.

  • Solid router bit
This bit worked better for me than a similar bit sold in the local big box store - that one broke too easily. This one appears very solid, which is what you expect from a Whteside bit.

  • Router will not hold it
This is the only bit that will not stay in my router. I do not know why, but it starts to creep within seconds after I start cutting.

  • Great bits, you can't go wrong with WHITESIDE!
I used to buy cheap bits....boy was I missing out! Do yourself a favor and stop buying home depot bits. The spiral upcut cuts like butter.
