I like CMT router bits so I decided to give their Domino bits a try for my Festool DF500. I'm really happy with this one so I'm glad I made the purchase and saved a few bucks. Two of my cutters for this Domino machine are made by CMT and I've had no problems with them.

Festool is 3 times the price of CMT, and buyers wonder why? I was cutting the 4th mortise and my domino started faltering. What? I'm on the 4th mortise, what is the problem? For background, I've been a woodworker for 12 years - not my first rodeo (or mortise). I'm using dry SYP with not a knot in sight. I stopped halfway through the mortise to see what was going on. When I pulled the 8mm bit off the Festool, I could see the breaks in the bit even without glasses. I've used CMT blades for my tablesaw, and while they're no Forrest or even Freud, they do a decent job in my hardwoods. This domino bit? What a huge disappointment! ... show more
