As someone with chronic insomnia, I’ve been on the market for a white noise machine for quite some time. My old machine was big and didn’t look very nice. And the sound was not ideal. I picked up the Douni. Packed responsibly in sturdy cardboard, the Douni Sleep Sound machine looks and feels different than any other I’ve seen. With easily the best faux wood grain finish and texture I’ve ever seen, this is a very handsome unit that would look good on any side table... seriously, the pictures don’t do justice, this looks like real wood. It even feels a bit like wood, but without the weight. I quickly was able to get it set up and plugged in with the extra long usb-type power cord that was provided. It’s a small detail, but usually these kinds of machines have short power cords which are awkward to set up. A short user guide explains the functions of each button, but it’s fairly intuitive. There is a timer function which turns off the sound after a period of time, but it can be disabled so you can run the machine full time, no problem. Volume controls and buttons work well like all Douni products I’ve bought. Three sound selection buttons toggle through the various sounds of each category. I found my favorite sound, “crickets at night” right away. I really like the generous selection of fan sounds and also the noise sounds - white, pink, brown, and other frequencies. The waterfall and creek sounds were also excellent. I’ve made field recordings of nature sounds before myself, I can tell the quality here is unique. What really sets this one from others I’ve tried though, is the lack of an identifieable loop point: each sound plays naturally, with no odd rhythms. The sense of calm I got from the sounds I tried was much deeper than others I’ve tried. The sound is excellent - the noise and fan sounds have lower frequencies present which help mask outside sounds. There is currently a big road project going on right outside my house, but I found a noise sound which effectively canceled the noise from the trucks and the work going on. Remarkable! I love how small it is, how sophisticated it looks, and most importantly how it sounds and performs. I’ve had two solid nights of deep sleep so far and I look forward to using it tonight. If I was to suggest anything it might be those light-up buttons which are present on the A7 Bluetooth speaker, since this is used primarily in a dark room. But that is nit-picking, and would likely add to the price of the unit. This is a simple, elegant, effective noise machine which is more relaxing than others I’ve tried. I definitely recommend it.

Wow. I've had a few of these, this one is EASILY the best 👌 I've seen/heard. Better than even the $200 ones I've seen like 10 reviews on, but have not owned. This one is MUCH deeper. Other ones seem to sound extremely artificial, or have sound ranges that just cannot seem to block the noises I deal with. This is CRAZY how many good sounds it has. Fan ones, white noise ones, music ones are alright too--but the other two settings are INCREDIBLE. Cannot speak about the longevity yet, just got it, but if it lasts even a couple years I'd HAPPILY buy another @ such a low price-point. Saw reviews were amazing, & they're right...buy this, I don't see how 99% of people could be disappointed bc of the sheer range & quality. Great craftsmanship in my opinion, very thoughtful & smart

I've noticed that "white noise" helps me get to sleep. On this unit, I like the ocean sounds and the white noise best. It was disappointing that the rain sound recording had thunder on it, which was episodic, and didn't promote restfulness. The "running water" sounded like a plumbing leak, and therefore wasn't restful, either. The fan noises did not appeal as they sounded like they were recordings of an industrial setting. I didn't notice sound loops if they were there. But for the size of the unit, and well-planned operating features, I will occasionally get use from the unit. The plastic case with wood grain appearance is a nice unobtrusive blend with furniture-that was a good idea.

I am a person who has had trouble falling asleep due to a racing mind, thinking about past and future issues with work, money, life dramas in general. I was always curious about sound machines, and not knowing anyone who owned one, never made a purchase thinking it was a possible waste of money. I received an amazon gift card for my birthday, I really didn't need/want anything, so I decided to research sound machines. I looked at many styles, names etc. Prices ranged from $18-$80. I read many reviews for each of these. I settled on this unit, as it was mid priced ($35) and my thinking was not to spend all of my gift card because if I hated it, it would be an "oh well" purchase. WELL I'm here to tell you that I made the smartest purchase of my life up to this point. I used to take sleeping pills EVERY night just to get to sleep. I do not do this anymore! Set up was so easy, just plug it in, turn it on and "play". It has fan noises(which I don't need because I have a fan), it has white noise which I am hesitant to use, due to thinking it will invite spirits to talk to me. (LOL) I LOVE the natural sounds however. I love the thunder storm, but alas, it freaks out my dog, so we've been listening to "waves". I kid you not when I tell you each night I turn it on, I am asleep within 20 minutes! This unit is small, fits anywhere. It has no night light, which I read on other units. I was navigating the buttons in the dark the first night. The sound quality is excellent & I'm not hearing any "looping" which seemed to be issues with other units I had researched. I used to fall asleep with the TV on, but would always wake up and struggle finding the remote to shut the TV off, which would make it hard to fall back asleep. This unit has a 30,60 & 90 minute timer that turns off the unit. first few nights I had it set for 60 minutes, and as I've said, within 20, I was out. Now, I keep it going all night, so if I do wake, I am lulled back to sleep within 10 minutes. I'm also getting deeper sleep & feel more awake during the day, I have more energy because I am sleeping through the entire night. If your like me, who finds it hard to fall asleep & stay asleep I can not recommend this enough. I just wish I had purchased a sound machine years ago.

Really didn't expect this little machine to be so helpful. Who knew that more noise to cover my husband's snoring was the answer. Love the Thunderstorms and Crickets. Sounds so realistic and relaxing. Set it to 90 min at bedtime and vooosh, I'm out.

This little sound machine is perfect for those who have trouble sleeping due to external noises - snoring, cars driving by, trains, etc. I was using a fan at home for this purpose, but the fan causes drafts in the winter time which make me cough at night. This sound machine achieves the fan effect without the stray drafts. There are several sounds to choose from including some nature sounds, white noise, and appliances (fans). The range of volume is good (although the buttons are small). This unit actually looks nice as well, with a simulated wood grain finish. Overall, I give this 5 stars because it works perfectly sitting by my bed. I did not give it 5 stars for "volume control" because the controls are small and difficult to operate at night in the dark (same for the on/off button). I did not give it 5 stars for "for travelling" because it does not have an internal battery (this would be great for travelling if it did have this feature, as it is better sounding than my phone or tablet "sleep sound" applications).
