    • Broken after 2 months and Whirlpool service is absolutely terrible
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT - (purchased at Home Depot, but warning people on Amazon). I don't usually leave reviews but want to stop you from wasting money, time and food (and a lot of patience). I had it for less than 2 months and the refrigerator side of the unit froze everything solid with no way to stop it from happening (yet having to continue to run it to keep all frozen items frozen). I adjusted the temperature to all different settings and went through the manual with all recommended fixes (air vent clearance, etc.). The manual actually states the top shelf of the fridge will be colder (because it's vented/cooled from the freezer near the top of the unit) and there's no way to change that. I scheduled service after navigating an atrocious automated call system. It was more than a week out for a technician to come to our house (they only set aside 1 day week for areas and at the time of scheduling will only commit to a window of between 8a.m.-4p.m.). When the technician arrives, if they do not have a part on hand, you're likely looking at additional multiple weeks before they can come back. I'll likely not have a working refrigerator for about a month. With a baby at home, it's especially inconvenient. Also, the Whirlpool standard warranty does not cover food loss, so you're out that cost as well as the time off from work for the service appointment. Oh, and you cannot return major appliances to Home Depot, so you're completely at the mercy of Whirlpool. I worked at Whirlpool headquarters in Benton Harbor, MI, and have actually had a soft spot for the company in the past. Their call system states, "For over a century, we've believed in everyday care." The problem is it's just marketing lip-service to chase the current customer experience trend. There is no operational orchestration to meaningfully support and quickly resolve customer issues. If you need any proof defects are expected in their products, look at them not covering food loss in the first year warranty - the belief is there's financial risk to the company and that can only be the case if Whirlpool believes there's a decent chance a percentage of the product will be defective. The ice maker works really well - better than my last Frigidaire. So far (about 6 months) I have no complaints. Living up to my expectations.

    • You had one job refrigerator, and you FAILED!
I bought this fridge after my two year old LG died due to the bad compressor problem that is ongoing for that manufacturer. This one had pretty good reviews so I bought it as a replacement. It was delivered a week later. The freezer section is fine. It is holding a steady -1 degrees F on setting three of five. The fridge, however, is another story. I put thermometers with memory in all of the drawers. On setting 4/5 (five is coldest), the top shelf is usually below freezing. The next shelf is about 39 degrees. The shelves below that average at 42/43 degrees. The bottom two drawers which act as crispers average at 45 degrees and range 44/48 degrees. The seller has agreed to give us a refund as a brand new refrigerator should not be like this. However, I don't see how it could be any other way as the only vent in the fridge is at the top of the unit and blows air down from there. Thus I would think this would be the default situation - frozen top shelves and balmy lower ones. Completely unsatisfactory. As for the noise, yes it is louder than other units, but it is not overpowering or something that would keep you awake at night. If it weren't for the fact that this refrigerator is not refrigerating, I'd keep it and likely be OK with my purchase. ... show more

    • Don't waste you money
This refrigerator came with my new home. The ice/water dispenser area is so small you will most always hit the water dispenser when you're getting ice. Soon to be the garage refrigerator.
