After years of a 2-slicer, I decided to get a new toaster for my wife and me. I looked at several different brands, each of which had different features. I chose this one because it had just the right amount of features (some toasters had way too many features -- overkill on the wow-factor), it was a 4-slicer that could do both toast and bagels (the slots are wider to accommodate the bagel size), and it had a nice look to it (a stainless steel toaster looks nicer than the plastic toasters, IMO). Best thing about it is now my wife and I can get our toast done simultaneously, each to our own desired done-ness. She likes her toast lighter (so she got the left side and uses that done-ness dial), and I like mine a bit darker (so I got the right side and use that done-ness dial). Puuurrrfect! And it is easy to clean; stainless steel cleans up nicely and the crumb tray is easily removed for cleaning. Check the picture; there it sits on my kitchen counter, nice and clean, even reflecting the winter snow on my deck. Sweet. I know I'm supposed to say something negative in addition to the positives, but, to be honest, I'd be lying if I said anything negative. We got this a week ago, and we really like it--it works great! It's toasts bread (even wider bread slices) evenly, as well as pop tarts. And the levers can be pushed up a little more--like for doing pop tarts--so you can easily grab the pop tarts to take them out. With my old toaster, I had to unplug the toaster, then reach in with a knife to help the pop tarts come up a little so I could get a hold of them, but not with this toater! And I really like that the bagel feature will toast just on the cut side. UPDATE: It's been 6 weeks now since we got our Whall toaster, and it still works great! I love that it's not heavy but is light weight; yet even though it's light weight, it doesn't look or feel cheap. So far, so good, and it looks great, too! ... show more

Overall, this is a great toaster. It gets the job done. It looks good, but it feels like it's made of plastic so I have some concern about the quality of this product. So far, we have been using it for about a month with no problems, but time will tell if can hold its value. Side note: I can't believe how expensive toasters are now! If this doesn't last more than two years, I will leave an updated review to reflect, what I feel would be, a poor value. Pros: Simple to use, plenty of browning "levels" to choose from, bagel setting, fits wide pan bread, worth the price, does NOT make the toast darker with each successive batch (our old toaster required that if you were making several batches of toast that with each batch you had to turn the setting down or else the toast would burn; we have a lot of people in our house so this is actually important) Cons: Lowest setting slightly tans the bread which means the highest setting burns it black (would prefer that the lowest setting just dries the bread out and the highest setting should be dark brown [who wants charred toast?]), Stainless steel finish is slightly shinier than all the rest of my appliances, wide pan bread fits but needs a heavy hand on top to assist in lowering the bread into the machine, extremely thick slices of bread do not fit ... show more

This is a replacement for heavier and more expensive toaster we had for years. It wasn't browning well any longer, so I looked for another. This one had lots of good ratings and the price was right. It's much more lighter in weight the one it replaces and it's a lot shorter, so I feel it looks better and fits in well with the counter. It has 6 settings for toasting something and I like my toast really dark, so the #5 setting works well for me. Hubby seems to like #4 better. Haven't even tried #6 setting yet and not sure I will. Replaced similar looking premium brand. I usually get three or four years out of a toaster before something stops working. With all of the great reviews, I figured I would see if I could spend half as much and still make toast. When I unpacked it, I noticed it was considerably lighter than what it replaced and hoped it did not indicate quality or performance would be compromised. It works very well. Prior toaster had a bagel button that did nothing. This one does only toast one side if you use the button. We keep our bread in the freezer. The defrost button works very well. Have not burnt a slice yet. The best part is that it really does toast very evenly. Good purchase. ... show more
