I used it to play in the waters of Lake Michigan where water temperatures were about 70 degrees. I was very comfortable and I don't like cold water swimming. The bottom have of this suit is neoprene. The top half is lycra. This is a great suit for paddle boarding, especially if you like to sit as well as stand. The sleeves go to the elbows, so they offer good protection from the sun. The lycra top half makes it easier to put on and take off than a full wetsuit. It's perfect for wading. Wetsuit fits well and it is comfortable. However, zipper broke after few time using it. I asked for a new one and customer service replaced it promptly. let's hope this one will last!

The neoprene is from the waist down. It does not cover chest which is important for het retention. From waist up it is a nylon/jersey fabric. Since I bought it to use for early- and late-season freshwater swimming, I suppose it is better than nothing. Also, suppose I got what I paid for. After reading comments, I bought two sizes up from my usual size and am very glad I did. Usually wear a medium (size 10-12) in clothing. I bought and XL in this suit. I purchased this to swim laps in an outdoor pool in winter. Follow chart and use your weight not height to select the size. Feels good and looks good. Have not swam in it yet
