I read a review that said the wet hair brush has a bad smell, but the metallic version wasn't as bad. So, I purchased the metallic version hoping for the best. Well, I was happy to find that there was no smell at all. And I have a rather sensitive nose. I had previously purchased the Knot Genie for my daughter who has a sensitive head (as many children do at age 4). I was highly impressed with the reviews it had been given. There are no tips on the bristles of the Knot Genie which makes it feel like dragging a bunch of sharp pins across your scalp. My daughter screamed! The Wet Hair Brush, however, has covered tips which makes it much more pleasant. The Wet Hair Brush has extremely flexible bristles which also make it very gentle when pulling through the hair. However, I would say that this brush is only marginally better at detangling than a store-bought brush of the same type. The Knot Genie has extremely stiff bristles which are very unforgiving when pulling through hair, which does make it good at detangling, although also very painful. As far as design, the Wet Hair Brush is much more comfortable to hold vs. the Knot Genie which is a very uncomfortable cloud shape. I spend more time picking it up off the floor after dropping it than I do brushing my hair. Bottom Line, the Wet Hair Brush is my preference over the Knot Genie as it is far less painful and easier to use. Plus, it doesn't make my kid scream. ... show more

I am surprised! But happily surprised. Gentle brush that really works. QUALITY: Yes! The bristles have held up over time, with no loss at all of any of the bristle end caps. Fairly light weight yet durable with over time no loss of any bristles either. USE: I actually do use it on my wet hair. It is so gentle that it detangles easily and carefully. I start at the ends of my hair and brush lightly, working my way up slowly. I have a sensitive scalp, and with this brush I have not felt any of the usual brushing hair pulls. It has been gentle and effective the whole way wet hair or dry! The brush itself is medium weight, if you have ever bought cheap ones at the store, its a little heaver then those but not as heavy as a wood brush. CLEANING: Very simple to do, I have very long hair, long enough to sit on, and so my hair when it does come out really wraps in the bristles. Due to the softness I just hold the brush in one hand, and with the other squeeze the bristles and pull my hair out. It comes out easily. For washing I put dish soap on a wet cloth and run it through the bristles, then rinse the bristles off really quick under the running water, and tap bristles down over a paper towel. I was skeptical at first, like how could it really be pain free!?!? It's science, that's how. The angle at which the bristles of the brush go through the hair follicles is perfect for separating the hair without snagging or pulling your hair. A pro tip is that if you feel it starting to snag stop pull the brush out and restart the brush stroke, it basically teases the tangle lose. I've never felt pain with this brush unlike the ones I used to buy at the local supermarket. Definitely a must have in your hair kit. EDIT: It's been 6+ months later and I still love this brush. Definitely worth the few extra bucks to have an easy, relatively painless way to untangle my hair. ... show more

This brush has been reviewed thousands of times, so I’m not going to try and reinvent the wheel. This review is just going to be about my experiences with it. This brush does work, but you need to manage your expectations. I have thick, long hair and I typically wear it down. I also typically go a week and half without brushing my hair because finger combing does well enough for me and I hate the feeling of ripping my hair out. I ordered this brush with the hope that I might enjoy it enough to brush my hair more often. It worked. Does this brush never pull any hair out? No. Does it pull out a lot less hair and get though tangles without as many snags? Yes. Aesthetically this brush isn’t much to look at. I ordered metallic purple and I can’t see any part of this that appears to be metallic. The coloring is bright and it looks like a child’s brush, but I didn’t order it to look good on my counter. Overall, I would recommend this brush if you, like me, hate brushing your hair because it’s always knotted and tangled. ... show more
