I have a small inexpensive lathe that I use for hobby reasons and for hopeful sales of items in the future. I got this set as it was rated fairly well and had a hollower (one lathe tool I had been wanting). I love the case as I have a small shop and the case keeps me up on where everything is as I have a bad habit of piling items on top of each other due to the limited space. I know, odd reason to like a case, right? I love that you can adjust the length of the shaft. I love making small containers and cups. This has proven to be a nice asset. It would be nice if a second handle for the different bits were included. Changing them out as you work can be a bit of a nuisance. In many cases, I will grab one of my other carbide bit lathe tools as opposed to swapping them out. A note on the hex screws used to hold the shafts in place. Either the screw or the supplied wrench are not high quality. Upon tightening, the wrench sticks in the screw and only likes to come out when you turn to the left a bit thus loosening the screw a little. This is not a huge issue. It is still yet another nuisance added to the changing of the shafts. The second "handle" is actually an extension for the handle. I can see where this could come in handy, however if they supplied a second adapter for the shaft, it would be a much better value as a set. I only foresee the extension sitting in the case or being used if the main handle is damaged. It would take a lot to damage it, that is for sure. The item in the pictures (my attempt at an egg in a soft boiled egg cup from cedar) was made using the set. I did use a few of my others during the making do to the swapping issue as I would have only needed the other bit style for a very short time. They work really well and have a great feel to them when lathing. I had a harder time using my original tools when I had to as I adapted to these really quickly. They give good stability and the longer handle (longer than my original set) really increases your control of the bit. My only other note is that the caps and shaft adapter are screw in. I am not against that, however occasionally you will need to tighten the ends due to the vibration from working with them allows them to wiggle a bit loose. You will know as you will hear a disconcerting sound of them shifting. The first time I thought it was the shaft itself not tightened enough. It was merely the cap or adapter that just needed a quick twist and all was right again. I would recommend this set for beginners (like me, as I have only been lathing as a hobby for 6 months) or the advanced user depending on your needs. I may look to see if the seller offers just the handle or the screw in piece for the shaft to increase convenience.

This is a nice set to get started with. Being carbide helps keep its edge so as a beginner, this is ideal. Not expensive and good quality. There are better sets but not at this price. I'm very happy.

This set is supposed to be a full-size lathe tool set. It is very long, which is what I wanted, but the square carbide tip is only 11mm (as advertised), I should have purchased a 14mm (9/16") cutting head (my fault) and turned a large bowl with this small tool is going to be a lot of work! I will be turning a lot of smaller pieces, so this will come in handy. I'm giving only 4 stars because I'm a bit disappointed in the size of the cutting head portion of the tool - - the handles are very long for good leverage. Also, the Allen wrench must be made of the softest metal material known to man... I suggest tossing the wrench included and using a real Allen wrench to prevent stripping. But is a great price for the product and the tools are very sharp! Nice case. Even with the less-than-positive comments I just made, I would buy this again!

Very sharp cutters. Handles are light weight aluminum which it nice but has disadvantages. There's only one handle to insert cutter pieces. I thought there were 2. The 2nd is an extension. Nice storage box. Everything fits securely.
