Description

Remember when you could make intricate and artful cuts? Let the good times scroll with the WEN 21-Inch Variable Speed Parallel-Arm Scroll Saw. Take on woods up to 2 inches thick with an aggressive 3/4-inch stroke. Adjust the speed anywhere from 550 to 1600 strokes per minute with the simple turn of a knob. The parallel-arm drive, coupled with the steel construction, minimizes noise and vibration while the spacious 25-5/8 by 16-inch steel table bevels up to 45 degrees to the left or 30 degrees to the right for angled cuts. The adjustable air pump clears sawdust from your work area to give you a clear line of vision. This, combined with the 1-1/2-inch dust port, keeps your work area clean so you can focus on your woodworking. Blade changes are completely tool-free, so there’s no need to fret - the dual side panels flip open for easy access to the bottom blade holder, making it quicker than ever to swap out pinless or spiral blades. The upper arm easily lifts out of the way and locks in place, taking the hassle out of making inside cuts. This package includes one 5-inch 15 TPI pinless blade and one 5-inch 18 TPI pinless blade. The WEN 21-Inch Parallel-Arm Scroll Saw measures in at 36-1/2 x 16 x 17-3/4 inches and 53.8 pounds. • GREAT Machine!
Pattern Name: SAW Style: Scroll Saw
This is the 5th WEN machine I have purchased and have to say all of them have been great. Customer service is outstanding which is rare these days. I originally purchased the 16" scroll saw which is a great little work horse, but I needed a bigger throat and table, so I purchased this 21". WOW did WEN step up their game with this one. It is so quiet and smooth. Changing the pin less blades is super easy, and I was resisting pin less! My cutting is spot on. I use to own a Hegner (a long time ago) and have to say, they have nothing on this machine. I also LOVE the HUGE table. Hindset is 20/20: I would have bought this instead of the 16"....just saying! It looks badass and cuts like it too! :). From a female wood worker! ... show more

  • Beefy, solid tool. Accuracy seems good. Very heavy, at the limit of portability.
Pattern Name: SAW Style: Scroll Saw
Seems like a lot of machine for the money, so far. The blade hole is bigger than I would prefer, apparently to allow for a lot of table tilt, but still unnecessarily big even then. Blade capture is fairly simple, and the tensioning mechanism works well with the blades I've tried so far. Table tilt is easy to effect. The dust blower is weak, but adjusts to point at the right direction easily. The included blades (all two both of them) are utterly useless for cutting sheet brass, with teeth far too coarse and far too unsharp. Worked OK in 1/4" plywood, though. Got some aftermarket Swiss fine-tooth blades that cut the brass sheet fine. This is a heavy beast, and you won't want to place it on a flimsy bench, nor move it often. It arrived well packaged and intact, but with a lot of styrofoam to store or stuff a landfill with. 3-prong cord is decent in length, though not sumptuously long. Comes with the required Allen wrenches. The blower is weak, but adjusts to point at the right direction easily. An aspect of design that I don't like is that the underside of the table doesn't make it easy to clamp a gate (not provided) to the table that could guide long straight cuts. Still scratching my head about that. ... show more

  • The jury is still out
Pattern Name: SAW Style: Scroll Saw
This is my second scroll saw from WEN. The first was out of alignment (meaning the upper and lower arms were not directly in line with each other). Customer service was very good to work with. After they understood it could not be adjusted by me they sent another saw and a shipping label at no expense to me. I had the first saw boxed and ready when UPS dropped off the second saw. They took it with them which saved me a trip to town (40+ miles). The second saw functions OK but it appears to have more vibration than I remember from the first. I'm still setting it up and getting use to it so that may be resolved in the future. As for build quality, I'm impressed. It's sturdy and HEAVY. The table is very flat and large and nicely machined. My only real complaint so far deals with the upper arm lock. When in the down position the arm lock is supposed to engage with something (not really sure what). The lock doesn't engage with anything. When in the 'lock' position the arm moves freely upward. Doesn't appear to detract from the saws function though. Blade changes are easy. This is my 3rd WEN product and I give them all 3 to 4 stars. ... show more

  • Wen is awesome
Pattern Name: SAW Style: Scroll Saw
This saw is by far one of the best I have owned. I am on my third scroll saw. So far changing the blades to operating the saw is smooth. This is a big saw 21 inch table. I was pleasantly surprised it was so big. So far I give it two thumbs up. It was packed great and ready to start sawing. Pulled it out and tacked her Down then got to work. No issues so far. Love this wen.!! ... show more

  • Nice saw
Pattern Name: SAW Style: Scroll Saw
Received my saw. It was packed very well. Ready to use right out of the box. I did find one thing. The upper blade holder appears to have had the thumb screw hole tapped at an angle. Contacted Wen they got back to me within a day and are sending me a new blade holder. Very happy with the saw so far.And Wens customer service! ... show more

  • Damaged scroll saw - inept return process
Pattern Name: SAW Style: Scroll Saw
The scroll saw was delivered to me broken - the box was busted and the saw's arm was not parallel. The 5" blade stuck out more than an inch. When I asked for a replacement to be shipped to me, I was sent a KITCHEN RANGE HOOD - which is huge and heavy. Now I have TWO BIG ITEMS I do not want, no range hood, and I'm out $391. ... show more

  • Best priced parallel arm scroll saw available.
Pattern Name: SAW Style: Scroll Saw
I am replacing my Wen 16” scroll saw with this one. I liked the 16” model but if your doing intricate fret work feeding the bade through a pilot hole is a process. Surprise! This saw is huge in comparison. It won’t fit on a small table. You can order the Dewalt stand or build your own which I did. I’ve been using it for a while now and so far I love it. The pros: easy blade changes. The upper arm lifts up and stays up, unlike others that need the “lifter mechanism”. The table bevel adjustment on mine was perfectly aligned. The vibration was minimal (I can’t compare to the other expensive brands). Table top is coated with a slick smooth surface , not bare metal. I like the fact both side panels open up for complete access to the lower cavity which makes for easy access. Cost is far below other parallel arm saws. Cons: dust collection port is useless because very little dust gets int the lower cavity anyway so there’s nothing to suck out, the blower is a bit week, ok if you aim it strategically, however. Others have posted they can not seem to get enough blade tension. I have not had this problem. I have not yet had to use the maximum blade setting (#5). Vibration has not been a problem at all. It’s very smooth and I never run at max rpm anyway. The complaints I see here I attribute to operator issues, at least with my experience on my saw. One poster did mention having te tighten some screws. I did notice this as well. Not a problem and easy to do on initial set up. ... show more
