I bought the 3 1/2 inch white version because the part of my trailer I was putting it on, is white. I wanted the door as close to the wall as possible so that’s why I went with the shorter version. I suggest putting the attachment towards the lower part of the door, that way no matter how high your trailer is you can still latch it. I eye balled where I wanted it and used a sharpie to mark it. My dad helped me put silicone behind both pieces to stop water from going behind it and to secure the hold. The screws provided were perfect and they did not pierce through the other side or anything. I have a Forest River Vibe and I guess they didn’t see the need to add one but out on my property the wind is so strong it was constantly slamming the door shut, I couldn’t have my door open on hot days at all. So happy I bought this, it was worth every penny so that I could keep my door open and not worry about it constantly slamming shut. You can tell the plastic material is a little cheap but it gets the job done so I’m not worried about it. ... show more

Our camper did not have one and kept blowing shut. This keeps it held open without banging against the camper. When not in use, the lever is held in place by pushing it into the base itself. Works great.
