  • This saw is the answer for cutting tall, thick tree branches!
Style: Corded 8 in. Pole Saw
This is a little miracle worker of a saw! I was facing a daunting task – trimming a giant pyracantha bush in our back yard, which I would normally tackle with a manual tree pruner / lopper. Well this year we’ve had an especially tough winter with lots of snow. All the snow build-up caused the branches to droop so bad they were touching our deck, and I saw just how out of control the tree had gotten. I knew it was time to bring in some tougher hardware than a branch clipper and found this pole saw on Amazon. It slices right through the branches with very little effort or kick-back! There’s not much assembly required, just be sure to add the oil to it before running. It was somewhat heavy, especially to hold upright for a long time, so I took quite a few breaks while sawing. FYI I’m relatively small and weak lol, so for a big burly guy it would probably not be that heavy. But this tool was immensely easier to use than a clipper or manual saw. Plus the price is right! My before & after pictures do look a little wonky because I cut a bunch of dead debris from the center of the tree, but these are incredibly hardy plants that regenerate quickly. I’m guessing by spring, that ugly center portion will be all filled in. I’m trying to “train” it to grow up and out length-wise, because it functions as our screen for nosy neighbors. In any case, the length of the pole allowed me to reach tall branches without having to balance on a ladder. One of the best yard tools I’ve ever purchased and would highly recommend. ... show more

  • Gets the job done!
Style: Corded 8 in. Pole Saw
Easy to use. Cuts like butter. Highly recommend even for this octogenarian. You won’t be sorry. Used on a hardwood and pleasantly surprised with the performance and speed.

  • Good value but the blade is disposable
Style: Corded 8 in. Pole Saw
For the price this served me well. But after the first 1-hour job the blade was toast. I tried to sharpen it but that didn't buy me much. I replaced it completely, the thing is now a pretty good limb cutter. Unfortunately the head and pole don't separate to give you a mini chainsaw, but the pole adjust down so most ground level jobs can be accomplished as well. ... show more

  • Its NOT 12' but it works!!!!!!
Style: Corded 8 in. Pole Saw
I have a fairly big yard and could have justified buying a higher power gas one or a cordless trimmer, but I’m cheap, besides I’m no professional logger, so for the few times a year I’m going to use it, I don’t mind dragging the cord around, I’m slow anyway so it works out. First off, assembly couldn’t be easier, the head goes on with a quick latch, and it comes with enough bar oil to fill the small tank once, it goes fast so be sure to buy extra. The quick latch head also makes storage very easy. I did have a situation where I managed to open the quick latch on the tree or another branch, sending the chainsaw hurling to the ground in my general direction. It didn’t come close enough to fire off a nasty letter, but close enough to get me thinking. Luckily I have my Masters in Backyard Engineering, I actually studied under the world famous Dr. Jerry Rig. I went to my laboratory (it’s a garage) and devised a duct tape safety latch which cured the problem. I bought this in a lighting deal and for what I paid I wasn’t expecting much but figured what the heck. I put this little saw to the test, cutting large limbs and even small trees. It doesn’t have as much reach as other models but it’s certainly adaquate, and relatively light and easy to control, really perfect for light pruning and trimming high woody shrubs. So far I have spent three full days cutting with it, and abusing it a bit and besides the one mishap, the only other issue was when I bound it up and the chain came off, and with the quick change tool less design, putting it back on was a breeze. It has run flawlessly, I’m very satisfied with the purchase. One note, and it didn't matter to me, as I didn't buy it for the reach, but IT IS NOT 12' more like 7'. I posted a picture of it next to an 8' ladder for reference. ... show more

  • Disappointed – First WEN Product to Let Me Down
Style: Corded 8 in. Pole Saw
I’ve had good experiences with WEN products in the past, but this pole saw was a major disappointment. The extension lock doesn’t hold — the pole keeps collapsing mid-use, which makes it frustrating and borderline unsafe. The chain tensioning is just as bad. It constantly loosens, requiring adjustment after nearly every few cuts. It threw the chain three times before I finally gave up for the day. The weight of the unit was manageable, but that didn’t make up for the non-stop interruptions. It worked well for the first 20 minutes, then turned into a maintenance nightmare. Between re-extending the pole and re-tensioning the chain after nearly every cut, it just wasn’t worth the hassle. I’ve trusted WEN for years, but this tool was a letdown — especially considering that other reviewers reported the same issues. ... show more

  • Served my purpose well
Style: Corded 8 in. Pole Saw
Bought this one to trim down bushes outside of my fence to reduce fire risk. Was able to cut 10 times faster than manual tools. Great design and great value. Very easy to assemble. Light enough to handle.

  • Got my Moneys Worth
Style: Corded 8 in. Pole Saw
I bought this saw a year ago and have used it on some mild tree trimming around the yard but nothing heavy. This month it hit 1 year old and it died long story short these slimmer polesaws employ a bevel gear since the motor is mounted parallel with the pole to transfter the rotation to the gear that turns the chain. It's not very durable and one outing with my 15yr old son and it was completely stripped. Still was a decent little saw until then Id say I got $60 out of it but will likly try to find something that has a motor mounted in the same direction as the saw rotation on the next one. ... show more
