  • Great tool for small projects
After my first purchase, Wen became my go-to for quality tools at a price point I can reach. This bandsaw is SO much better than the old Craftsman that I had and has lots of power for the small projects I do. The built-in fence is easy to use and accurate and the motor is quiet. My only skepticism cane when the order, placed on a Sunday, said it would be delivered the next day, like that was something that could happen. So you could have knocked me over with a french fry on Monday morning when I got an alert saing it had been delivered. ... show more

  • Best 10" bandsaw on the market
For those of you that use Alex Snodgrass" technique to set up the bandsaw, theres something you need to know about this Wen 10" saw. The drive tires dont have the relief in the center of the tire like 14" saws do, The relief is at the edge closest to you when you open the door. If you center the gullet on the tire, you be buying tires tomorrow. As far as the fence goes, it does leave a bit to be desired. If you take the time to square the fence every time you play with it, it works fine. Honestly, I havent see a sub 14" fence thats worth a hoot. Overall this 10" saw is worth it if you cant do a 14. And the 6-1/8 cut height makes this worth the investment ... show more

  • Works for me...
Used for hobbyist woodworking, this saw has worked out fine for me. The included blade is okay, but depending on your uses, it may not be a bad idea to get a new blade right off the bat. I put a 1/2 inch 4TPI Timberwolf resaw blade on it, and that works pretty well for ripping and resawing shorter boards, which are the tasks that I mainly preform on this saw. Adjusting the guide bearings is figgity and not a lot of fun, and they seem to need readjusting on a regular basis, but they work and are a big step up from the steel blocks that most budget bandsaws have. I haven't had as much trouble as many other users seem to have had with the fence. Mine locks down fairly straight. No, it is not rock solid,.. nothing about this saw is. If you want rock solid, be prepared to spend at least 3 or 4 times what this saw costs. It doesn't have a lot of power, so it is not going to cut fast. If you try to push it to cut faster than it wants to, you will get blade deflection and a bad cut,... or the saw blade will bind up and stop altogether. Some sort of dust collection is pretty much a must if you are going to put any sort of serious time on this saw. Without any, it doesn't take very long at all for the bottom wheelhousing to fill with dust to the point that it stalls the machine. A small 4HP shop-vac and dust collection bags, both from HF, have done a fine job of keeping it cleared out. What I don't like: I don't like the odd sized miter slot. I wish it had a quick release for the tension. The light is difficult to get into a usable position. Also, tighter tolerances on the table insert, and some leveling feet on the stand, would be nice. It's a budget saw, keep that in mind and I don't think there's much to dislike here. It has it's issues, and most can be overcome by either employing some ingenuity and forethought, or buying a more expensive saw. ... show more

  • Good saw for a small shop. Good saw for a small shop.
Wow! If you need a smallish band saw for your shop this is a honey. Assembly is easy. Adjusting the level and bed alignment for the fence went really well. If you need help look at the manual for the Grizzly 10 bandsaw. That explains the process well. I got a set of Timberwolf blades for this saw. Noise level is nice, not loud at all in my shop. Power is good on some test cuts with oak and pine. Accuracy once dialed in let me cut a 1/8” piece of pine 4” wide as a test. That was with the stock blade. All in all a really nice saw for the price. I will probably put it on a base and may add wings to be able to rip longer boards. ... show more

Inexpensive but works great.

  • Exceeded my expectations! Exceeded my expectations!
First, I am not a professional woodworker - I'm an amateur with a small shop (like many - half of a 2-car garage). For 13 years, I had been using a Masterforce (Menards brand) 10" bandsaw and it finally wore to the point that I wasn't going to mess with it anymore. So, it was time to research what was going to be the replacement. Some of my search criteria was 1) it needed to be a 10 inch, not the 9 inch benchtop models (they're usually less expensive but usually lesser in quality, too); 2) it needed to be 110-115v; 3) it needed to be on a stand so that I could add casters, as everything in my shop is movable; and, 4) it needed to be reasonably priced. With that, the search began! Most of the complaints about the smaller 10 inch bandsaws was the problem of blade drift; however, if the bandsaw blade is properly setup correctly, this isn't an issue. That's been my experience anyway. Another complaint was that there wasn't any indicator to show proper blade tension when changing to a different blade width. The Masterforce model had this feature, but I never relied on it, so that wasn't an issue with me. During my research, I discovered that the Menards Masterforce bandsaw was manufactured by Wen. One of the other complaints for this bandsaw model was the placement of the work light, which I considered minor. Another complaint was in reference to the waste port on the rear for removing sawdust. After conclusion of my research, I decided to purchase this model. I ordered the bandsaw and it arrived on time and was very well packaged. Set-up of the bandsaw was very straight forward from the directions provided. I did add lockable casters to the bottom for portability. Okay, it's all set-up, checked over again just to be sure and time to make sawdust! Oh, yeah - take the time to make sure the t-bar fence is properly adjusted to zero for the blade you're using, otherwise the measurement may be off. I usually work with softer woods (pine, poplar, Baltic birch, etc.), but occasionally use maple, hickory, oak and others, so I tried some cuts using scrap wood I had. Even with the supplied 3/8 inch width blade provided, the cuts were right on with no blade flex or wonder. One of the attractions to this model was the re-sawing height available. I make wood hand drums using 4 inch poplar and need to re-saw for certain applications, so I tried re-sawing some. No problems! As to the complaint of the work light being awkward and mostly unusable, I agree. So, I decided to move it. If moving the work light to a more usable location voids the warranty, so be it. The new location is shown in the attached photo. Another adaptation was to find someplace to store the wrench and hex wrenches provided. At the top of the steel main support is a plastic cap. I just drilled proper sized holes for the hex wrenches and added 2 rare earth magnets for the wrench. Photo attached. Well, that's about it. Very pleased with this Wen model bandsaw and expect it will serve my needs for many years. ... show more

  • Oops, this one slipped through the cracks.
This is my fourth Wen product in about four months. I’m a beginning woodworker, my experience is a little different than most as I spent two years working in a luthier studio making a completely hand built guitar so I do have some experience with fine woodworking. However, I’m starting to branch out into some simple carpentry, renovated a basement, building some functional rustic but nice furniture and I needed to step it up so I bought a Wen track saw and a wEn jointer and was thrilled with both. Also bought a Wen scroll saw, i’ll review that separately, it was ridiculously cheap, slightly more than $100 and my test cuts worked fine. Couple of very minor quirks with set up but if the thing dies in six months and it would still be an incredible price performer. Anyway, I’ve decided to finally take the plunge so to speak and buy a bandsaw. Did a lot of research and it did seem like the Wen had a lot of accolades and was another price performer. It kind of wasn’t available then it was then it wasn’t then it was so I jumped on it for 348 here on Amazon. Got here three days early. Very excited as I had a couple of projects ready to go. Pulled it out of the box. I don’t currently plan on mounting it on the floor with the attached Legs cause I don’t have the room. Seemed pretty solidly built. There was some typical exterior damage to the package where an area was punched in but it wasn’t material to the problems I experienced later. First of all when I pulled it out and set it on my work table it wobbled almost a half an inch. The base had been damaged and dented it one side. There is simply no way to keep it level. Not what I want to deal with when I have my fingers an inch and a half from a moving bandsaw blade. Probably could’ve dealt with that with the legs but again that’s not where I want it to be currently. I could actually see an area where it was sort of bent. Looks like somebody might’ve dropped it onto the base. Anyway figured I’d take a look at it anyway and see if it was salvageable and when I opened the upper door to look at the upper wheel, the bottom hinge had fallen off and the door it was flapping in the breeze. I found the lower piece of the lower hinge and since I don’t solder or weld there wasn’t much I could do with that. Oh well, with the door locked it probably wouldn’t have been a big deal but the door was askew. Called Wen to find out whether this is something they wanted to make a right or if I should just return it. During the 40 minutes I was on hold I read the instruction manual and decided I would try to align the blade. It was very straightforward and I was pleased, but when I manually moved the wheel to see whether or not the blade was aligned with the bearings there was one or 2 mm of wobble and when I watched the wheel as I manually rotated it I could see the wheels out of balance, right where a couple of weeks have been placed. Three strikes, they’re out, sent it back. Very disappointed as I was a fan of their stuff. It would have been nice if they had offered me some sort of incentive to buy another one but since they didn’t I’ll take my money and I’ll go to a big box store and step up a bit for a few hundred more dollars and hopefully get something a little better. This sadly was exactly what Chinese junk looks like.Looks like the good quality of my other three when products might’ve been the outliers. Oh well ... show more
