  • Really nice and comfy adventure read
Usually don't write reviews but after reading the Author's afterword in the book about how helpful leaving reviews are to the books success and outreach honestly they deserve it for making this story. If you're a fan of a comfy slow paced adventure fantasy then please check this out. Even though it's a comfy 'slice of life' kind of story there's still good elements of action, tension, and conflict in the story that the protagonist has to traverse through. I was pleasantly surprised with the story's romance elements also at play too so if you enjoy a little romance as well you'll enjoy it in this story. If you're on the fence please give this story a shot, I already ordered the 2nd book and look forward to seeing how this story continues! Thank you to the authors! ... show more

  • Gentle stories about sowing friendships - worth a read
Format: Kindle
First, Don't let the covers fool you - this is not a "harem novel". It is however a simple and enjoyable set of books covering twelve years of the protagonist's life as a farmer. The stories are slow moving for a relaxed pace and casual reading and the stories are simple but enjoyable. The logic of the books is not the greatest, but when you remember that it is taking place in a world run by 'RPG" style rules, it does follow that internal logic as best it can. The "stats" don't really play a role in the story and you can pay attention or ignore them as needed. What the books are really about is emotional growth and the development of friendships and in this, the books shine. The friendships are basic but solid stories and each person in the book has particular quirks that make them unique and play into the plotlines well. As a gentle read during the hot summer days, while sitting with an iced tea (or Hot Coffee and Ice Cream - they ARE good together!) these make for a good choice. ... show more

  • Better than the rest
Format: Kindle
This has been a very satisfying book. I've read quite a few farming LitRPG books recently and this one has been the best. The MC is down to earth and relatable. He's not overpowered and actually struggled quite a bit. What I loved was the story and the interactions between characters. I didn't feel like anything was lacking. I still have questions, but by the end of the book I felt content, happy, satisfied. ... show more

  • A great slice of life book
Format: Kindle
I was unsure about how compelling a farming book could be, but I have to say that the book is well-paced and a fun read from cover to cover. I read some reviews that questioned some of the RPG genre purchasing mechanics, but I liked the simplicity of purchasing and inventory because it gave the author more time to focus on the story. It was nice seeing Jason navigate farm life and the trials that come with it, and the community was a warm addition to this slice of life story. Definitely worth a read and I’m looking forward to the sequel! ... show more

  • Great relaxing read
Format: Kindle
I enjoyed this book. There is enough going on to keep things interesting, but not enough to make things feel more than relaxed as you read. The main character is a stand up guy, and the other characters help build out both the story and the main character. Worth a read in my opinion.

  • pleasant and enjoyable
Format: Kindle
This is just a nice easy slice-of-life fantasy book. It’s a hard world to live in and it’s nice to read about people just living a simple life, albeit one full of monsters and LitRPG levels and stuff. Some of the spelling/word choice/homonyms are off (reign instead of rein, sewing instead of sowing), but it’s not a deal breaker. Definitely a lovely choice to give your stressed out brain a soothing, relaxing story to enjoy. ... show more

  • it’s a year in harvest moon.
Format: Kindle
Or maybe rune factory if the monsters have anything to say about it. I do enjoy the fact that it is 100% focused on the farming. There are a lot of town events but that is mainly focused on joining the community and understanding the side characters. Monsters are woven into the story in a very interesting way but have no effect on progression. That said litrpg is a very ambitious label here. Levels are barely mentioned and classes less so. There is the idea of a progression system but that is why I mentioned harvest moon in the title. Equipment tiers are the name of the game. Better tools increase efficiency and make tasks easier. There is more of an action system then stamina and tasks take a reasonable amount of time. The scale of the operation changes drastically between the beginning and the end of the story. All in all the stakes are low most of the time but the story as a whole has a strong hook and I eagerly await the next installment. This farm may just grow on you too. ... show more

  • JASON CHUCKLES. JASON CHUCKLES. JASON CHUCKLES.
Format: Kindle
It's not well written, but it hits the spot on “nothing bad happens and it's like someone living in Stardew Valley”. The 4th wall is never broken, there's no “it's just some guy playing as Jason via his computer” BIG REVEAL or anything. It's nice and comfy. The characters are pretty plain. The romance is pretty cringe. But it all feels nice and comfy. Update: I’m now at book 7 and it's getting old. The characters are completely preposterous. Their actions are soley to advance the plot and are unbelievable in their behavior one minute doing one thing and the next the exact opposite because the narrative demands it. Forgivable perhaps if the narrative was good but it’s not it’s super mid. The story is still comfy and I will read all 10, just want you to know what you are getting into. For me my favorite part about these books is venting to my wife about how “I could write a better book” every 30 minutes. I think the least forgivable thing about this story set is the abysmal lack of video-game-esque features. Barely anything ever happens (apart from completely unbelievable character interactions) especially stuff in the area that this book *should excel*. In book 2 Jason defeated a wolf-in-sheeps-clothing and it dropped a rare item. I was enthused! Finally! Some good video game stuff! The item is never referred to again. And JFC if Jason or Tess *chuckle* just one more GD time I will explode. The author needs a thesaurus and a human-relations course. ... show more
