  • Honestly worth the money!
Color: Soldering Iron
Buy it! Ive used it 15 20 times now. And once I got the tips properly tinned it worked fantasticly. Most of my exp is with cheap or mid grade irons...so keep that in mind. Pros: Heats up QUICK! (NUMs flash as its heating) Tips are great. Comfortable Quality feel Replacement parts Cheap AF Cons: Buttons on the handle. I push them accidentally often. But ima fix that soon with some epoxy clay stuff. ... show more

  • Great, affordable, effective
Absolutely awesome, especially compared with my old, decrepit 30w iron that I couldn't even find replacement tips for. The temperature adjuster is inconspicuous, does not require a massive base, and definitely works. It has a small non-blinding indicator LED built-in, which is nice for reminding you that it's on. The extra tips are a nice touch although I haven't used any but the standard point. They are much more convenient to change than the threaded little rods on my old iron. It's a remarkable feeling when you have a precise instrument that works with you rather than against you. I used to use a big 100 watt soldering gun for bigger jobs, but with this one being so versatile, the gun may not be getting much use. ... show more

  • Just as Good as Name Brand! Amazed!
Color: Soldering Iron
Love it so much I reordered a second one. As a Electronic Technician for one of the largest US Companies. I was always supplied with a name brand Soldiering Irons with 1 Iron Clad tip. Prior to using the Iron Clad tips we were always replacing tips because they would wear out and fall apart. The name brand iron always did the job for over 35 plus years. Now retired the price of the Name brand was very expensive, so I decided to give this a try. To my amazement this iron works better than what I used in the field. Mainly because of the adjustable temperature and the quality of the tips are A+. With a verity of tips you can do fine work at a precise temperature. I do not know what material the tips are made of, but they stand up to the Iron Clad tips I was used to. ... show more

  • Wow! I'm impressed so far....
Color: Soldering Iron
Update: Over a year after getting this, the threading that connects the tip to the body kept coming lose, and I figured I would contact the seller (other than this problem, It had been working great -- and tbh I was a bit rough in the way I was storing it). The seller immediately offered to replace it, no questions asked -- and they even re-shipped the replacement when I made a typo in the address I gave them! I could not ask for better customer service. The product itself has been excellent. I'm not a heavy duty user, I solder a few times a month on average, and for that it has been just perfect. It heats up in a matter of seconds, has great temp control, is comfortable, has a nice flexible cord, and uses standard inexpensive tips. It has all of the features I needed as a casual solderer, at a price that no one else came near. ====================================== ====================================== Until recently I haven't soldered a whole lot, and have only used el-cheapo soldering irons, i.e. old radio shack entry level, or harbor freight $3.99 special (although I did modify them with some decent Aven replacement tips). As a recent retiree, I've been doing more and more electronics projects involving PCB soldering, and wanted something a little more robust. I toyed with the idea of a knockoff T12, but the review on them were very hit and miss, so I landed on this baby. Just picked it up a couple hours ago, and so far I am impressed! Pros ==== - Slim, compact, and light. From the pictures I got the notion it was kind of chunky, but not so at all, its very slim and light, and tip to finger distance is nice and short. Feels very comfortable in my 'medium" sized hand (not sure if it would be too small if you have really large hands though). - Heats up fast: Heats up from totally cold to 300C in about 10-15 secs. - On/Off switch and C/F: Some of the other reviews said it had no on/off switch, so it was a very nice surprise to see that it does, and also that you can change temp to F (most irons I looked at didn't support either of these features) - Decent Cord: Not sure if its silicone, but its pretty flexible and I dont seem to need to fight it like the rigid cords I'm used to. - Handle Stays Cool: I cranked it up to 450C, and the grip, while a bit warm, was not uncomfortable. Cons ==== - Not a quality feel: This is partly due to the lightness, but also due to the fact that the shaft has a bit of side to side movement if you push on it. Tightening everything up to the max helped a bit, but the "looseness" is still there. No obvious quality flaws, so this isn't a deal breaker, and at this price I wouldn't really expect more. - Stand doesn't fit the iron: I doubt anyone is buying this for the accessories, but if you were counting on using the included large soldering stand be aware that the coil is too big and the iron falls right through it. It probably could be modded to work (in my case the iron fit perfectly in my old stand so I was good) TBDs ===== - Quality: As I said, my subjective intuition makes me feel like this may not hold up too well, but there is nothing concrete indicating any issues -- time will tell. - Tips: I tinned up and did a couple test solders with the original and one replacement tip. No issues, but again time will tell if they last a couple years, a couple months, or a couple solders. - Temp accuracy/precision/consistency: I don't have a tool to measure the actual tip temp, so I don't know how accurate it is I'll update this review once I've had a chance to put this baby through the ringer, but so far it seems like a great value for only $22 bucks! ... show more
