  • Great box, worked perfectly
Size: 35" x 12.2" x11.8"
Bought this for my box trailer to be used to house a battery and additional storage. It's well built, fit well across the tongue of my trailer and despite the U-bolts not being large enough for the cross section of the beams, it was easy enough to add some self-tapping screws to bolt it down. Overall it's everything I needed. Good value as well. ... show more

  • Nice for the price
Size: 35" x 12.2" x11.8"
Well made for the price paid. U bolts were too narrow for my 6x12 utility trailer. Had to modify them. Other than that , it’s a great storage box for my tie downs etc. Keeps them dry.

  • Fits 2 x GC-2 (6v) batteries with room to spare
Size: 35" x 12.2" x11.8"
I purchased this for my travel trailer after having returned another brand, because it was damaged in shipping. I'm glad I did, in retrospect. This one was packaged very well; no damage at all. If you own a travel trailer of recent vintage, you've probably seen that the welded section in the front that is supposed to hold batteries... is only sized to hold one battery. For those of us who like to use 2 x 6v batteries (I'll let you do your own research, rather than explain here)... a better solution is needed. This box fits 2 x 6v (GC-2) batteries very well. With a little work, it's feasible that 3 could fit side<>side<>side (e.g.; the 'width' oriented north / south). I use two batteries right now, but when it comes time to replace them, I could see adding a third, or using two 12v Lithium or similar, and moving away from lead-acid batteries entirely. The company that sells these is mainly invested in the battery business (check their 'store' on Amazon). It seems that this box is more of an afterthought (?) for them, but I'm glad I stumbled onto it. The only thing I'd recommend is perhaps making the front end just a little wider (or the whole box a little bigger), for mounting on larger travel trailers. The place where this box would mount is behind the propane tanks, and that portion of the 'A' of the trailer frame is just a little too wide for this box. So I mounted it backwards, with the lid opening facing the front wall of the trailer. That wasn't a hardship, because I'd mounted the first box (a pickup truck toolbox) in that fashion. However, the width of that first box took out my taillights the first sharp (jackknife) turn I had to make. Enter the replacement! This one fits perfectly, in that regard... big enough to hold two batteries for camping, but not wide enough to interfere with your truck's taillamps on tighter turns. I drilled two holes in the front side (below the lock) and installed rubber grommets for the battery cables to route through. This no longer rates the box as 'waterproof', but I doubt much water is really going to get into the box, since the holes aren't 'into the wind'. If any water does enter, it should route through the holes you drill in the bottom to attach it to the trailer's frame. This company even drills a set of holes in the front of the bottom end, and includes two U-bolts / hardware! That was nice, even though I couldn't use them. Another benefit of orienting the box facing 'backwards' is that if you should leave the box unlocked, the wind won't force the lid upward while you're driving (minor, but it's a benefit, so... ). As for unlocking... the key is double-sided (fits either way), so even if you're inserting it 'blind', as I have now have to, it's not too difficult (easier if it's not on a keyring with a bunch of other keys, to be fair). Note that if you store your GC-2 batteries in the aftermarket plastic boxes, the top covers won't fit well when you close up this box. Using some foam, etc., in the top should keep them isolated from touching the metal lid, if they should bounce around while traveling. I took a 900 mile trip with them recently in this box, and suffered no ill effects. TLDR: This was a perfect solution for my camping trailer that has factory provisions for one battery, but like so many RV'ers, I run multiple batteries for extra amp-hours when boondocking, etc. Recommended. ... show more
