I purchased this so I could steam clams or seafood on it, so I didn't have to lug out the propane cooker. The appliance throws an error code. Apparently, this is not supported with this product. This would have been helpful information in the product description.

Very sturdy and easy to clean. Works well, not many bells and whistles but accomplishes the goal of induction cooking. We use it outside by our wood burning oven.

This cooktop is mostly good but it is crippled by a crude power control. I found that most things I cook, including (but not limited to) sauteed onions, burgers, sausages, eggs and sauces require a power level somewhere between 500 and 800 watts. I am given a choice of only 500 or 800 with nothing in between. There are only seven steps and they are irregularly spaced: 200, 500, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500 and 1800. A simple linear 100-watt increment across the range would be a huge improvement. A fixed ratio between steps (say 20%) would be even better; this would give more control at lower power levels. Despite the claim of a larger coil, the heat is concentrated in a ring about six inches in diameter (see photo). Smaller pans heat up more slowly than larger ones. Most of my induction-ready pans have an intentional dimple in the middle of the bottom surface (why?) which causes a cool spot on the center. The one I have with no dimple heats more evenly. Cast iron heats up very well, aluminum with an induction disk a bit less so depending on the disk diameter. The top is tough glass that has so far resisted scratching. The stainless-steel frame is substantial and the weight helps hold it in place. It is easy to clean. The cooktop remains cool and only the cookware gets hot. The fans are moderately loud and run at a constant speed while heating. The Child Lock only requires a one-second press.

I keep for6 months without use. When I decided to use it, it will not get hot., the surface lights turn on.,but the top stove will not heat up

I'm using this in an RV where space is limited and power consumption must be monitored. This device delivers a lot of cooking power per kWhr, so I will keep this in the RV in place of a few others that I've tried. Hopefully, this proves to be more durable than the others and so far it's easier to keep clean. The only thing I'd change is to build it thinner as it stands a little taller than others on the market. But so far, I'd get this unit again so long as it lasts at least a few years. One more thing to mention is that every piece of induction cookware that I've tried works with no problem. The same cannot be said of other induction cooktops!
