I replaced my two wire old mercury thermostat （which is for heating system only no cooling） with Google nest and since then I kept getting notice about power issues and thermostat got disconnected with WiFi often. After consulting a hvac professional I realized that installing a c wire is really expensive, so I decided to get this c wire adapter instead. But the instruction is printed in a tiny font in black and white, there's no way to read. Luckily I found the wiring graph on Amazon in the item description. But my Google nest only has one R but there are Rh and Rc in the graph. I tried to disconnect the R of Google nest and kept it hanging there unused and connected the black wire of this adapter to R. Google nest showed no power issue any more but when I adjusted the temperature, thermostat showed heating while the furnace didn't work. I had to watch several videos and finally figured it out. Connect both black wire from the adapter and the R wire from the thermostat together to R and connect red wire of the adapter to C, keep W wire of thermostat connecting to W. Google nest may then show warning of wire information about unrecognized wire. Reset Google nest to manufacturing default and delete it from Google home App. Follow the instruction of home App to reinstall Google nest thermostat and when choosing the connected wire, check W, R, C. Now there's no issue or warning any more and Google nest is fully functional. I can control the temperature any time anywhere. First picture is the wiring after adapter installation and second picture is the wiring of Google nest thermostat only without the adapter. I needed a video door bell, this product works well with Wyse wired door bell. Have no operational issues so far the Only thing is that no wire clips is included in the package that would have been nice to have.

    • Powers my Google Nest Learning Thermostat
My home doesn't have a C-wire, and the existing two wires couldn't sufficiently power the thermostat, so I installed this last winter and it's worked perfectly since. Good, cheap solution to an otherwise tricky problem.

    • Work as it started
This transformer work ask advertise. My client want to install Cadet in wall heat, but control by a Nest thermometer. I checked with Cadet, they don't recommend their products to be use with smart thermometer. Cadet also stated, if you run your own 24V transformer to power the Nest, there are chance the Nest will fry. I told my client about what I discovered, he insists using the Nest. Therefore, I did some research and found this product. It work as stated, the plug in transformer come with very long wire. It have been 2 month, and it still works fine ... show more

    • Unclear directions
The directions were vague and getting it to work took some doing. Better direction on how to hook it up or a link to a web site that had it clear would help.

My nest has no RC or RH wire only R. It would be helpful to a provide readable directions with terminal numbers. I took a pict with my phone and zoomed in, still unreadable. See attached. I have simple heat only two wire system. I removed the original red wire and replaced one wire of the transformer (red) in there, and the other in the C terminal. The only original wire used was the white. This seems to work. I have seen doubling up the wires in R on the net but I have also saw you should never do that. Good luck! ... show more

I added this power supply when I upgraded the old Honeywell thermostat to a new Google nest ( first generation). A 24 volt ac power supply is necessary to keep it working. The c terminal on your furnace fan control will do the same thing. This was more convenient and has a really long lead.
