  • A Serious review by an expert installer.
Style: Steel Rope Size: 2,500 lbs.
Seriously Warn winch company??? I install probably 30 or more Warren winches annually as well as many other brands for many different applications and I've defiantly seen a downturn in the quality of the wiring supplied over the last few years by Warren. Are you guys running short of blue and yellow wire or something BTW ? Add a DAMN foot or so, so it will at least be usable for most ATV/UTV applications,,,GEZZZZZ Guys ! The other wiring is of sufficient length though, if not,, to long generally. Firstly the blue & yellow wiring supplied is BARLEY a large enough gauge ,,by code,,, to even handle the current draw the motors take with no load, no less under a big load . Secondly ,, it's so short I could play a tune on it once routed it's so short. I normally install a much bigger gauge wire now on my installs just to avoid come backs,,,6 of the last 10 installs I've done with the supplied wire, the winch wires fried in very short order . Plus there's no supplied breakers or even a fuse which is a must for a proper install. Plus what wire is supplied is barley long enough to even reach the middle of a mid sized quad no less a larger machine . And Warren ,,of all people should know that those junk quick connect , blue connectors supplied,,, Are Not ,,,rated for ANY wet locations and are extremely problematic in general . Come On guys, your making us professionals look bad by supplying crappy wiring with your winch systems now,,especially being one of the ,,,Most Expensive,,,, winches available. People don't wish to spend top dollar for a system, just to have to spend more for a sufficient gauge wiring and fusing to make it safe to use. Saving a nickle on wiring will only ruin your otherwise stellar reputation IMHO if you continue to do so. I've had many unhappy customers due to this issue. The winches themselves seem to be of the same high quality as always but the supplied wire leaves allot to be desired of late ! ... show more

  • Tough install- no extras, doesn't compete with other brands. Don't be fooled with the "WARN" label
Style: Steel Rope Size: 3,500 lbs.
I fell for the WARN brand name- I should have listened to the forums (I bought this for a 800cc ATV). It's over priced compared to competitors and it lacks the standard equipment (remote control- wired or wireless) that should come with a winch. I can't even respool this winch without 1 person sitting on the ATV holding the power button and another person guiding the winch line to ensure even distribution over the winch drum. Another pain in the butt was the SHORT blue and yellow cables for install- I had to cut the red and black power wires and re- solder all the eyelets and extend each blue/yellow wire by 20 inches. Total PIA. I would not recommend this winch to a friend. I would tell them to go buy the KFI winch plate and get a superwinch. ... show more

  • Scratches all over out of the box
Style: Steel Rope Size: 2,500 lbs.
Maybe I’m just being picky but when I pulled it out of the box I noticed permanent marker scribbled all over it to cover up scratches and the hardware packages had been opened, most likely a return item from someone else. I guess when I paid for a new winch I was expecting a new one, not a scribbled over, scratched return. ... show more

  • Some Fitment Issues -- Good Customer Service
Style: Steel Rope Size: 2,500 lbs.
Had multiple install issues, but Warn customer service was quite responsive. 1) Fairlead mounting plate. Purchased the specific Warn mounting hardware for my ATV. Base plate went in perfectly. Mounted fairlead to fairlead mount (included with base plate) and then attempted to mount winch and fairlead mount to base plate. Nope. The mounting bolts for the fairlead caused the mount holds to be 1/4" off. Maybe this was designed for something other than this particular winch. In any event, I had to take an hour to re-drill the fairlead mount plate. Customer service told me that Warn is moving more to single-mounting plates, but this might be an issue with the handful of ATVs that require separate fairlead plates. 2) Winch mounting bolts. Way too short. First one I torqued down stripped out the 1/4-3/8" of the mounting hole where it had contact. Fortunately, enough thread left for a longer bolt, which I then had to run to the hardware store and buy. The explanation here, again, was the double plate mounting system. For a single plate, the bolt would have been fine. So, if you're mounting with a double plate, do yourself a favor and measure through the lock washer, mounting plates, and into the winch to see how long your bolt actually *should* be, and go buy one. Make sure you get the hardened stainless bolt that matches the included ones, except for length. 3) Wiring. Too short! And too long! As another commenter observed, the winch wiring that goes from winch to contactor -- yellow and blue -- plays out a foot shy of any possible mounting location even with, or aft of, the battery compartment. (And mine is a medium size ATV, not a monster-ATV.) So, customer service was extremely helpful here. They asked the measurement I needed and offered a set of blue/yellows just a slight bit longer, shipped no charge. Bottom line: Still hoping this winch will be exceptionally good, given the trouble I've had so far. I will say Warn customer service was top-notch! The explanations were explanations, not excuses, and they did what was needed to fix the problem. Once connected up, I will adjust the rating based on how everything works. Post-install update: Warn's promised cables arrived, just the right length, and installed fine. I bought a heavy duty wire cutter and crimper set, and set of end caps, and custom cut my over-long wires to fit perfectly. Then my son helped me unwind/wind the cable correctly. Winch is extremely quiet, and everything worked correctly. ... show more

  • Can't mount the fairlead
Style: Steel Rope Size: 2,500 lbs.
I attempted to install this winch on my wheeler with the appropriate Warn mount kit, but neither the winch nor the mounting kit includes the plate needed to mount the fairlead.
