Kids these days want to own phones so early and I am determined to delay it as much as I can for mine. I got these walkie-talkie's for my kids to have a way of communicating with their friends after school. They have usb-c chargers and can go without a recharge for a very long time. The push-to-talk is similar to any walkie-talkie and kids need to adjust to the time needed before and after they press the button to talk. The menu is easy to use and is similar to Casio watches where you keep pressing same button to switch between menu context. The included guidebook is very detailed and has everything you need, even though the text is super small and sometimes difficult to read. They come with 25 channels and each channel has 100 "sub channels" (forgot the real name for it). I got it set up so that my kid gave one to two of his friends that don't know each other and with 2 different sub channels he can talk to them individually. We tested it in the neighborhood and I can confirm that they work well within a mile. I have not had the chance to test the 3 mile range but you have to understand if you are using it indoors this range will be affected. In our case my kid is able to use it in his room with very good reception so I have no complaints. Overall this is an excellent walkie-talkie that has the menu and feel of a toy buy the functionality and durability of an adult version. Highly recommended. ... show more

I bought two sets of these so my granddaughter would have one set at my house and one set at her house to play with her parents and friends. They are easy to use and changing the channels on them is easy as well. They are rechargeable which is a huge plus since constantly replacing batteries would ultimately land these in the bottom of a toy box. We use these to play hide and seek and have a great time. These little walkie talkies should be good for the grandkids. They are a nice size for small hands and should be easy to use by them. I like the small size and that they are rechargeable. While having just received these and haven't used them other than to test them out to verify they work, I can't really attest to the battery life. Its nice that they come with the charging cable and not just one cable but three cables so if they are all rundown at the same time they can all be charged and not separately. They could raise their voices when in their respective rooms and hear each other, but it is more fun to talk through the devices and much quieter.
