We got this bed to be able to keep our other son's crib underneath. The room is 9x6.5, and this opens up space for us to have a small rocking chair as well beneath as well as a dresser off to the side. It's sturdy for what it is, but after about a year of owning it, I'd think we'll have to tighten some screws to keep it from wobbling as our son grows and gains more weight. He will be 7 soon. The younger child is moving into a toddler bed, and climbing up into this bed is an issue. I made a ladder guard for the exposed ladder out of cardboard and bungee cords and made a rule that the bed is for sleeping, and not for playing, so that no one goes up there unnecessarily. I will say if you have a kit who pees a lot, and another kid sleeping below, this isn't the easiest solution. But it does save a ton of space. This is probably more ideal for just one kid with a desk underneath than for someone else dealing with a potential climbing toddler. Our 6 year old asked for his old ladder guard for added security. He moves around a lot in his sleep.

Very good bed for the price, in my opinion! Super easy to assemble for one person alone, even standing it upright and moving it around. Plenty of spare hardware, too! Some things I will HIGHLY suggest for the assembly process: 1, obey the directions. Do not get ahead of yourself, no matter how much you might want to jump the gun and juuust put that ooone little part in before the other. And obey the directions when they tell you not to tighten the screws all they way until you're done. Trust me on this. And 2, no matter what the other reviews say, DO NOT SKIP THE LITTLE GREY SQUARES!!! They are absolutely vital to the integrity and stability of the bed! Prepare your thumbs, because it WILL hurt like hell. Use something to apply pressure to help snap them in that will save your fingers, but DON'T hammer them!! Now, the bed is pretty stable for a loft bed, but could stand to be a lot better, like a thin bar across the floor to keep the front legs a little more secure. The height is great, even for a lower ceiling. I can sit up just fine and not bump my head, and was able to fit a full desk under the bed on one side, and a full size table on the other, with plenty of room for my rolling chair underneath and plenty of head room. It's an INCREDIBLE space saver! My only problems with the bed are that it's scarily wobbly, especially when climbing up. If you have any kind of molding on your baseboard, the bed is going to be a bit further from the wall than you'll want. The L brackets included will not reach, and you'll have to get creative with how you secure it to said wall. Make SURE you secure it to studs only. Even secured though, it's still frighteningly wobbly, so be aware of that. Every tiny movement you make, you WILL feel dramatically in the entirety of the bed. It's very audibly creaky, too. It is the shakiest when climbing up into the bed, and the lack of a dip or space in the railing makes it a bit of an annoying challenge to get in and out of. My other complaint is shared by everyone else in that the ladder rungs are INCREDIBLY narrow, at best approx 5/8ths of an inch diameter, and are very painful on the feet. They're also super smooth and offer zero traction. HOWEVER, my biggest complaint is that the motion of climbing in and out happens to force the rungs to loosen and turn little by little, unscrewing them from the ladder. Climbing up one night, the middle rung turned on its screws and rotated inward like a smooth little conveyor belt roll, flinging my leg through and causing me to fall. If I hadn't had an excellent grip on the top rail at the time, I absolutely would have broken that leg. Thankfully I was only left with a substantial amount of paint. So, daily tightening of the rungs is what I'm reduced to, and considering a contact cement on the bolts. Instead of the pool noodle trick most folks do to make the rungs more comfortable, I instead chose a route of safety, and used reflective-striped non-skid stick-on stuff used for outdoor stairs, cut into strips that fit the rungs and circled them around completely. This way has kept my feet from slipping off and makes me more aware if the rungs start to become slightly loose again. Definitely recommend this trick, especially more than pool noodles which can also themselves spin around the rungs. All-in-all, decent product, even for an adult like me, which is great for anyone who doesn't mind climbing into and out of it. Excellent for anyone in college who needs to save space in small living quarters. I prefer the top bunk in a military barracks to this loft bed, is that says anything, but it's not the worst bed by any means. Definitely recommend it over anything a certain large Swedish store sells for your own assembly. It's the perfect game changer for a tiny room, regardless of your age. Just know that if you have to pee in the middle of the night, you will hate life. If you get thirsty, then it sucks to be you. If you have diarrhea, vomiting, or are drunk, then you're better off sleeping on the floor. Do NOT use ANY amount of haste getting in or out of this bed, period. It's really a pain to get in and out of, due to the height of the railing that sticks up higher than the mattress. If you have male anatomy, you're going to rack it multiple times, and there's no avoiding that. Even as a female, there's no avoiding it. Despite it's flaws, it's actually the best loft bed I've found, especially for the price, after doing a LOT of research. I do recommend it, just beware that nothing is perfect. Cat absolutely loves it.

I bought this loft bed to put over my full sized bed, so my cat can have his little chill area above me. It was really easy to build and I actually left some parts out (the ladder and one side of the frame) just because it was intended for my cat, and it’s decently sturdy. But if I were to sleep on it, it would most likely wobble a lot. Overall a good loft bed for the purpose I intended for! I would say mine didn’t come with instructions, so I had to look online for it.

I’ve searched high and low for a loft bed that 1) was budget friendly 2) had the best reviews. This bed isn’t perfect, but I knew that going in and overall, I’m happy with it and would make the purchase again. It’s not hard to put together, but it is a lot of pieces and will take you a little while. It is what it is. You got a whole bed shipped to you, expect that it’s going to require effort. The pieces are clearly labeled and the instructions are very straightforward. I love the underneath storage, which is why I got it in the first place, because it saves so much floor space in our children’s bedroom and allowed us to set up their homeschool area in the same space. I’m able to fit their toy kitchen and their work table underneath, plus a few other items. I read the other reviews about the ladder rungs being hard on the feet and to add pipe foam installation. I had every intention of doing so, but haven’t gotten around to it. Honestly, yes, the rungs are hard, but my kids have had it for 3 or 4 months now and haven’t complained. I think they’ve just gotten used to it. So I’m not sure if I’ll go back and add the insulation. The bed does slight rock a little bit when getting in and out. However, one of the rails is off on mine as the bed is pushed up against the wall. I’m sure this takes away from the overall sturdiness, but it’s not a major concern for me. The bed also comes will wall anchors, so if you use them, you’ll be ok. It’s a pain in the butt making the bed, but I’ll sacrifice that for sake of having a loft bed and keeping my floor space. Overall, I’d say this bed is a solid 3.5/4 stars. I have a hard time purchasing anything that isn’t a 4.5 or higher, but compared to the other options I’ve seen on Amazon, I’m pleased with my purchase.

Felt like I owed it to the company to leave a review realizing we bought this bed 9 years ago tomorrow. We got this bunk bed when our kids were 8 and 5. They're 17 and 14 now. (They joys of urban living in a mall space.) I can't believe how well the bed has held up. For years, friends would comment how it was a better design and footprint than whatever they had for their kids. Often the bottom bunk has less head room and the whole bed frame is much wider than this one. No bunk bed at Ikea is a better option than this bed. Since it's a double on the bottom, it can more easily serve as an option for guests to take over in the kids' room. Much appreciated in our house.
