The Ultimate Smartwatch for Outdoor Enthusiasts
Size: 47 mm Style: Pro Sapphire Color: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium w/ Black Band
I’ve been using the Garmin epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire Edition for a few months now, and I’m absolutely blown away by its performance. As someone who enjoys hiking, trail running, and other outdoor activities, I was looking for a smartwatch that could handle both extreme conditions and provide high-end smart features. The epix Pro (Gen 2) ticks all the boxes! Design and Build: The 47mm Sapphire Edition has a robust yet sleek design. The Sapphire Crystal screen is scratch-resistant and incredibly clear, even in direct sunlight. The stainless steel bezel adds a premium feel, while the silicone strap is soft and comfortable, perfect for long outdoor adventures. It’s built to last, and it looks great both in casual settings and on the trails. I appreciate how Garmin has managed to strike the perfect balance between rugged durability and elegant design. Display: The AMOLED touchscreen is simply gorgeous. The colors pop, and the resolution is sharp and clear, making it easy to read maps, stats, and notifications even in bright sunlight. Whether I'm checking my heart rate mid-run or navigating through complicated trail maps, the screen is always responsive and easy to use. The Always-On Display feature is particularly helpful for outdoor activities when you don’t want to keep tapping the screen to check the time or data. Performance and Features: The epix Pro is a powerhouse of a smartwatch, packed with features that make it perfect for athletes and outdoor adventurers. It tracks everything I need, from heart rate, GPS, and pulse oximeter, to more advanced metrics like VO2 max and sleep tracking. The multi-sport modes are a game-changer—I can easily switch between cycling, running, hiking, swimming, and even skiing. The built-in maps and route planning features are invaluable, especially on long hikes or while exploring unfamiliar trails. Battery life is another area where the epix Pro shines. Despite all the advanced features and the bright AMOLED screen, I’ve been getting around 10-12 days of battery life in regular use, and even longer in power-saving modes. For someone who likes to go off-grid, this is a huge plus! GPS and Navigation: One of the standout features for me is the advanced GPS functionality. Whether I’m trekking through dense forests or trail running on rugged terrain, the accuracy of the GPS is top-notch. The turn-by-turn navigation is spot on, and I feel confident that I won’t get lost, even in remote areas. The Garmin Explore app also allows me to plan my routes and sync them seamlessly to the watch, making it easy to follow even complex trails. Smartwatch Features: Aside from fitness and outdoor functions, the Garmin epix Pro offers all the smart features I need: notifications, music storage, and integration with apps like Spotify and Garmin Pay. It’s also compatible with smartphone alerts, so I can get texts, calls, and app notifications directly on my watch without pulling out my phone. Durability: This watch is seriously tough. The 5 ATM water resistance means I can wear it in the shower or while swimming, and the military-grade durability ensures it can withstand drops, bumps, and extreme temperatures. I’ve used it in the rain, snow, and heat, and it’s held up without issue. Overall: The Garmin epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire Edition is the ultimate tool for anyone who enjoys outdoor adventures or wants a high-performance smartwatch with all the bells and whistles. It combines stunning design, exceptional battery life, and a rich set of features that cater to both casual fitness enthusiasts and serious athletes. Whether I’m out for a trail run, navigating a new hike, or just checking my health metrics, the epix Pro has become my go-to watch. If you’re looking for a premium smartwatch that does it all, this is definitely worth the investment! ... show more

Amazing watch
Size: 47 mm Style: Pro Sapphire Color: Titanium with Whitestone Band
Bought this for my husband and he loves it. The battery life is incredible. It is super durable and looks great. The flashlight is bright and he uses it all the time. The Garmin coach is super helpful in creating workouts for you to follow. It is expensive but for all that you get it is worth-it in my opinion! ... show more

great watch + battery, confusing apps, still worth it
Size: 47 mm Style: Pro Sapphire Color: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium w/ Black Band

impressed with the screen, wasn't sure how well it would do under bright sun with reflections but it's great and super visible. Was not expecting to use the flashlight at all and it's become the one thing I use the most. Battery is great (coming from an apple watch). The GPS feature is good but the app is kinda terrible tbh. Also super confusing what the model is, with a bunch of watch faces, GPS maps, and other things being charged while being advertised as part of the watch. Another annoying part is needing two apps to manage the watch and health features separately. But overall this is definitely worth buying, especially on sale (seems like it's always discounted) ... show more

Epix (Bentley), Amazfit Balance 2 (Lexus) and Fenix 8 ( Rolls Royce) - All excellent choices
Size: 51 mm Style: Pro Sapphire Color: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium with Blk Band
Review Image by business guy
Garmin Epix Pro gen 2 51m sapphire (Bentley!) is a great product, a few main caveats: I ordered the 51m sapphire, but after the fact looking at it on my hand, I wish I had ordered the 47m sapphire. It just would have looked a little better to me. I'm 6ft 1' and fairly big boned frame, this 51m just seems a little too look big on my (relatively) big hands. Wife thinks it looks fine (on a man); and it is acceptable for me (ie still looks really cool and sports jocks will like it), but be aware that the casing around the face actually makes it look bigger than the advertised 51m. Also pro's and con's: it doesn't have AI (no microphone, or audio listening), which would have been helpful, if you like that interaction and phone call taking and calling since EPIX doesn't have this feature. But I kind of see the good side to this. I get all of the SMS, and WhatsApp and phone call (IOS Iphone) notifications and preview which is fine, and I can just pick up the phone and text or call if important enough. I have another (Amazfit Balance 2) smart watch with the microphone and the other sometimes starts talking to you at inopportune times (other watches). I like that the EPIX is sweet and simple and sophisticated when I need it to be. I wish Garmin had cooler free watch faces, which Amazfit Balance 2 just seems to do way better than Garmin on multiple free faces. The main watch face I like on my Garmin (which is really cool) I had to pay for (some are really expensive but I paid approx $6). I don't sleep many hours per night. The EPIX keeps telling me I slept poorly, I wish it lied, cause I instantly felt worse, and my Amazfit Balance 2 lies to me saying I slept great and even congratulates me, and my day just seems to go better with that. The Garmin controls aren't as intuitive as the Amazfit Balance 2; it took me two days and several help videos to understand all 5 buttons of the Garmin, but now I like it now that I understand it. I'm still learning. it's packed with technology, great for hiking and GPS is unbeatable by most of the competitors with GPS. It is fairly comfortable, but depending on how you type and use desktop computer key board (while wearing watch), the clasp on the original band can start digging into the bottom of your wrist so I tried out Garmin's official nylon band bought online to see if that's better. Indeed, it was way better and more comfortable for long periods of time, and not to forget to mention, it makes the entire Garmin watch lighter. It looks really cool with that alternate official Garmin band. For sure it doesn't look as cool as the regular original issue Garmin band but better than the knock offs; already returned two knock offs. This Garmin watch with the original band is not as heavy as you would think, so I sleep fine with it so far (and even better with the alternate Garmin band, but even with the altnernate band Garmin doesn't compare to the comfort of the Amazfit Balance 2. Honestly, for most people (if you are not too serious about maps), Amazfit Balance 2 is an ideal alternative and half the price, but the Amazfit Balance 2 just isn't as friendly to IOS (iPhones) and involves questionable app fixes for IOS, and Amazfit just makes too much noise for my liking, but Amazfit is clearly a close 2nd choice to the EPIX, but if audio were important of course, I would choose Fenix 2 (Rolls Royce). The battery life of EPIX has been really cool not quite as good as Amazfit (but close), On this Garmin, I have had it on original full charge now for 10 days (using it more since I'm trying to understand and program exercise models). and it is still at 25% charge, at this rate will probably last another 3 days minimum (no GPS use so far). Amazfit balance 2 (top of the line Lexus) is way more comfortable and looks really really nice, but it's hard to beat the Epix (no frills Bentley) luxury feel. if budget is an issue or you are bent on having a microphone and audio, I would go the amazfit balance 2 or if you can stretch your budget go for the Fenix 8. in Sum Garmin EPIX Pro (Gen 2) 51 is awesome with some limitations. Close second is Amazfit Balance 2. 6 months later.... still love Garmin epix, however, just too heavy and bulky to sleep comfortably with it at night, so I basically use it for appearance, hiking and gym during working hours and take it off at night, I even put lightest watch bands to see if I could use it for sleep, and it's a no show. if I could do it over, would have selected the Venue (which is more like amazfit balance 2 in usability, just more elegant. amazfit just is a little too plasticy but like it too, I actually alternate between the balance and the epix ... show more

A Worthwhile Upgrade!
Size: 51 mm Style: Pro Sapphire Color: Titanium w/ Whitestone Band
I recently upgraded from the standard Epix 2 to the new Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire Edition in the 51mm size, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. It was absolutely worth the upgrade! Here’s why I’m so impressed: The Screen Size & Durability: The jump to the 51mm display is noticeable and fantastic. The larger screen real estate makes maps easier to read on the fly and stats more accessible during workouts. Combining this with the gorgeous, virtually scratch-proof Sapphire display provides great peace of mind. The AMOLED screen remains unbeatable for clarity and vibrancy in all lighting conditions. LED Flashlight: The integrated multi-LED flashlight is a game-changer—it’s far brighter and more functional than expected, especially useful for early morning runs or finding things in the dark. The Overall Experience: While the Epix 2 was already a great watch, the Pro version feels more refined. The combination of the larger size, upgraded flashlight, and enhanced tracking capabilities makes this the ultimate multisport watch on the market. Verdict: If you're on the fence about upgrading or choosing between the Epix and Epix Pro models, I highly recommend the jump. It’s an investment, but the quality of life improvements and robust feature set make the Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire Edition a superb piece of technology. I am very happy I did it! ... show more

A much needed upgrade.
Size: 47 mm Style: Pro Sapphire Color: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium w/ Black Band
I really like this watch. I previously owned a Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic 47mm but wasn't happy with the battery life. The battery on this watch lasts me about 7-10 days between charges (I get a ton of notifications so it drains the battery quicker). That's a huge improvement from my Galaxy watch that I had to put on the charger everyday. This watch is also super tough! I work in the roofing industry and this watch has had no problems with the bangs and bumps that come with it. I also LOVE the built in light. The interface is still taking me some time to get used to but it's not bad at all, just different from android obviously. I think this was a very good upgrade for me. ... show more

Love it!!!
Size: 51 mm Style: Pro Sapphire Color: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium with Blk Band
Love this watch. After a couple of months, no issues. Now this watch does alot more then I need but I knew that before buying, I got it through our wellness programme money I get from work. Seems very accurate so far but I wish the weather/Radar app was a bit faster but it is fine. I did purchase aftermarket bands that fit better. ... show more

Excellent value
Size: 47 mm Style: Pro Sapphire Color: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium w/ Black Band
The Garmin Epix Gen 2 strikes an ideal balance between premium smartwatch design and hardcore multisport functionality. The stunning AMOLED display is crisp, vibrant, and easily readable even in bright sunlight, giving it a sleek and modern feel without compromising outdoor usability. Battery life is surprisingly strong for an AMOLED watch, lasting anywhere from 6 to 16 days depending on usage. GPS performance is top-tier, with multiband GNSS support and detailed topo maps, making it a great companion for hiking, running, and backcountry navigation. Health and fitness tracking are comprehensive—heart rate, SpO2, sleep, stress, and advanced performance metrics like VO2 max and training readiness are all built in. It feels rugged yet premium, especially in the sapphire or titanium editions. On the downside, it's expensive and may be overkill for casual users. Also, while the battery life is excellent, it still trails behind some MIP-display watches like the Fenix line when used continuously outdoors. Overall, the Epix Gen 2 is an outstanding smartwatch for serious athletes and outdoor enthusiasts who also want a sharp, modern display. It is my everyday watch now. ... show more
