Ceramic brake pads are usually very expensive but its nice to find them for a good price. The metallic pads cause a lot of brake dust and puts lots of wear on the rotors. The semi-metallic are a little better but the ceramic pads are the way to go.

    • 2005GMC Sierra Brake pad change out. Be aware of the two types available

My 2005 GMC Sierra was the recipient of these Wagner brake pads on the fron disc’s. * I want to mention the fact that the GMC 1500 2005 has two different brake sets that fit the trucks so it’s a good idea to make sure you get the right ones if you have drums like I have you use a different brake in the front the gifts that are on other 2005 front and back use a whole different brake pad set which has a different configuration so that’s one thing to keep in mind when ordering from Amazon as there is no differential in there order information. My problem was a little bit different even though I specified front brakes or break pads I think I got rears as I cross-referenced Wagner to one of the local auto parts stores and they also were sweet almost did the same thing as I had to specify not the October and Nexxt has like a round cut it fits or mounts totally different on the caliper. The box and the number actually had the correct looking brick on the cover of the box but when you open the box it was a totally different brake pad but that part was resolved and I just ordered a new set of the correct one yes Helen came as a open box at a reduced price but was still specified as a friend but I think that was a brake pads had been taken from her box and put in a front install box and that’s how I got goofed up that’s my idea of it anyway but the brakepads are very good quality. . ... show more

I have this '06 Avalanche and when I bought it years back with only 33,000 miles I was surprised to find that the previous owner had just replaced all 4 brakes and rotors already. During a state inspection the inspector remarked that whoever it was spent some money for what he identified as some premium Wagner pads. It was a few years before I had to replace the rear pads (see my review on them) but much to my surprise those front pads (whatever they were) kept on going until I'd put nearly 100,000 (of my own!) miles on the truck! In fact, the only reason I had to change them was because the good old NY, Lake Ontario snow belt, salt capital where I live was rusting the backing plate and the remaining pad material - which was considerable considering the mileage - on one pad was delaminating it. Really, nearly 100,000 miles on a set of front pads on a 1/2 ton truck...nice, huh? So I stuck these stupid things on! After a break-in period I did a high speed (60 or 70) panic stop, just for the heluvit. There was considerable fade (compared to the old pads) and when it finally stopped they were smoking considerably. Yeah, really impressive. Then when I drove away, until they cooled back down, I had this constant "metal on metal" sound" grinding noise, the same sound you get when your pads are worn all the way to the plate. Yeah, really quiet! After they cooled down they were "normal" again but I was never impressed. I should probably give these a 1 star but I'm going to be nice. I finally junked them recently and put on one of the premium pads from one of the auto parts box stores. Much better - cheaper too! ... show more
