Not Really Recommended
I really can't recommend this item. Though it is of quality construction with fairly thick walls and top containing insulation, the thermo-electric cooler is undersized. It is also quite loud, both in the vehicle and in the hotel room at night. You CANNOT leave it running in your vehicle overnight as it will run down the battery. If your car battery is 50 amp-hours capacity, a 48 watt draw will run your battery to 50% (it should still start) in about 5 hours. Car batteries should not be discharged below 90% for max life, so if you use the 90% limit, that would be reached in about 1 hour. The products description is worded in a way that can be misconstrued: "Max cooling to ≈ 36°F below ambient temperature". While I understood what that means, others might not. What the description really means is that it "cools" to a maximum of 36 degrees below ambient...there is no "minimum" guarantee so cooling 1 degree would be within the 36 degree description. The description could have read: "Max cooling to ≈ 100°F below ambient temperature" and since there is no minimum value the description would be correct. I understood what the description was specifying, but thought that the unit might be able to cool 36 deg below ambient easily. That is not the case. The unit was capable of pulling about 25 degrees max. While it may be able to pull a 36 degree differential it would be in laboratory conditions, not real life conditions. In any case I don't believe that the unit can cool below about 40 F, even if the ambient is 60 degrees, unless you let it run continually unopened for 10 or 15 hours. It took it about 4 hours to cool from 70F to 50F (unopened) in my family room. It didn't get much below 45 degrees running overnight, when the room temp was probably 60 degrees for awhile. I took it anyway on a 9 day trip to Idaho in the back of my Grand Cherokee. I did all the testing above before we left, so I put in 2 gallon baggies of ice to supplement the cooling. With the ice, the temp reached about 40 degrees in the cooler just barley cool enough to keep milk and yogurt fresh. I replaced some of the ice each night, it didn't all melt so the unit works well as a regular cooler. Another issue is that in order to run it from 120 vac, you need to buy a power supply. The power supply looks like a laptop power supply, but a lot more expensive. The last issue is that (per the manual) if you are running it in your vehicle using the cigarette lighter type connector, you have to turn off the cooler before you start the vehicle and then after the vehicle is running, turn it back on...a somewhat minor hassle. If you can live with putting some ice bags in it to help with the cooling and can tolerate the noise and turning it on and off when in your vehicle, go for it. I returned my unit when I got back from Idaho, it just wasn't worth the price for what I got.

Get REALLY Cold
Came on time. When I received it, I plug it in to see that it worked. This cooler was plugged in 20 min. & it got real cold. Very happy with this cooler. My last cooler like this (different brand) worked for @ least 15 years b4 it died so, I hope the Wagan gets that many years of use out of it. I'm kind of lost without my 12V cooler. But I will say the Wagan cooler gets a lot colder then my old one. It holds a lot. I like that it cools from the top, my old 1 cooled @ the bottom side. It's a lot better being cooled from the top. So far very happy with the Wagan and I've already used it many times. Just remember to turn the switch off b4 you turn your car/truck off, it states in owners manual.

No Handles, Heavy, wheels too small
Very hard to maneuver, even with 2 people. There are no side handles, just 2 slight indentations which your hands can not grasp. You have to lift as if no side handles at all or it will slip from your grasp. Heavier than I expected which would not be a problem if it had handles. Wheels are too small, they hang up on every little crack or crevice in the sidewalk. But it keeps everything nice and cold on long trips. I would not recommend because of poor maneuverability.

**UPDATE 5/21/2019**. RIP Cooler as it has officially died after 7 months
**UPDATE 5/21/2019 - RIP COOLER 5.21.2019. After working perfectly for almost 7 months in my big rig tractor the cooler literally died. Something happened internally to it and guess it had a stroke because the red light still works on cigarette lighter part for power but the red / green lights on unit went out, the slider button locked up and smelled like it was burning in motor or fan. Fan no longer works and have to fill it with ice to keep my food from going bad this trip. I really liked this unit but too much to take a chance on another one if it happens again. Time for a mini fridge now.......... I’m a truck driver and use this as my refrigerator since my tractor does not have one installed. It took some expirimenting with previous units but that’s how I know this is the best one for my needs. It works best to plug in at home first with the optional house plug converter and pre-chill unit for a couple hours as well as have the items you want to take with you pre planned chilling as well. Once everything in the cooler is cold you can take out and add items without fear of them taking too long to get cold. This replaced my 40 L Igloo Iceless cooler that never ever got items as nearly as cold as this one does. The only drawback is the amount of condensation / Water this unit creates on the inside is enough to have to fold up 4-6 paper towels on the bottom and change once a week when they get soaked. Now I want to get the smaller cooler to accompany this one. LOL

I won't buy it again
OK first off, the fan on the inside kept getting packed with ice build up which keeps the air from circulating and keeps the food from staying fresh, 2nd I was fighting with the lid seals that coming out of place, and the final thing, after 6 months and ten days after purchasing this cooler the warm/off/cool switch overheated and started smoking and then melted, almost causing a fire in my 18 wheeler while I was driving down the road. Thankfully it happened while I was driving and not when I was asleep. This cooler might work better if it's used on short trips but probably not so much for heavy constant use for an over the road truck driver, which sucks because I really liked this coolers design and double doors, but when it's all said and done I won't buy it again.
