I recently moved into a rather close-set neighborhood, and I wanted something to give myself a bit more privacy while still being able to look out. Reflective film looks garish, and doesn't work at all at night, so I opted for this. Installation on my bedroom windows was easy. The grid pattern on the backing material makes it easy to cut into squares/rectangles, and it cuts pretty easily without tearing. The material is pretty durable; at one point I had half of a piece applied to a window before I realized it was a bit crooked, and I was able to peel it off slowly and reapply it without ripping it. If you clean and prep the window surface well and go slow, you can easily avoid bubbles or wrinkles. You can see absolutely nothing when looking in from outside, but the view from inside outward is no more obstructed than if I had a window screen installed. Perfect! It rained cats and dogs the day after I put this film up, and I'm happy to say none of it came loose. I will be applying this to the other bedrooms in my house.

Film actually does a great job at reducing spring male bird aggression by blocking their view/reflection and it doesn't have too negative of an effect on the view out- thus my 5 star review. Applied it to our cottage windows overlooking our deck as Robins and Cardinals were continually attacking their reflections and pooping all over the deck. You do have to accept a large block of white color from the outside, but careful installation make sit look neat/tidy still. Installation (especially on a larger window) is the hardest part. After you have measured and cut, be sure to let you piece "rest" and flatten out before you try to install. If you install while the film is still curved from its tube you'll have a harder time. As on all of these types of films I prefer to lightly apply from top down and then actually peel back from corner to center and do the final application diagonally towards the corners to ensure no bubbles or ridges. Patience is key here... I did 4 large windows and three glass-front storm doors and most, but not all came out perfectly. I wish the product was easier to apply, but not sure how that could be done- experience is the key.

After five years of hearing and watching the same robin come in April and belly slam our window for the next 4 months, the battle is over! We spent over $200 on other useless products. Decals, owl and hawk yard statues, live traps, fire crackers......This one seems to work. It is rather hard to work with so 2 people are better than one and find a video on You Tube for 'perforated vinyl window film' and watch it so you don't loose your mind. If it had directions with it, it would have got a five star. The price is the best one I could find. Update: It is holding up and still no bird hits. The appearance still bothers us. It is unsightly and every wrinkle shows. I would not use it in the front where it would make a street or first imprression. 6-1-19 1 month update: the belly slamming robin now lives a more peaceful existance in nature and has not slammed into our window since we put this up. It works perfectly. So the down side: It is terrible for the appearance of your window from the outside, although almost unnoticable from the inside. And the tears from handling during installation are quite noticable. So yes, it works wonderfully, but if you have to look at it often from the outside, you may not be so happy. The only other choice is to remove the tree. two week update: Still no bird hitting the glass so we are pleased. It is unsightly outside, so that is the trade off. From inside, it just looks like a dark screen.

The other reviews that complain about it being brittle, are mistaken. It is FRAGILE, because it is perforated. So you have to take care not to fold it, get it stuck on your hands, or peel too much at once - otherwise it will split or stick to itself. Also be careful as you remove the shipping tape from the wrap - too aggressively can rip the film. To make the install easier, I ordered a film installation kit on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNCRNMT2). First, cut the unpeeled film to leave 3-4 inches excess on each side of your glass. Clean the outside glass of your skylight (windex) and dry without leaving fibers or lint. Then SPRAY a light film of water on the glass using the spray bottle from film kit above. This layer of water makes the film more forgiving to flatten out. To START, unpeel 2-3 inches from the end of your film roll and stick it to the topmost glass edge (or frame). Align accordingly. These few inches are easy to pull off and readjust if you mess up. Once adhered to the top, then smoothly unroll the backing while pressing the film gently down the center with the squeegee (in kit). You can squeegee a bit from center-out while you unpeel, as long as you keep peeling in a smooth motion. Don't tug or stretch. Once you get to the bottom, discard the backing. Then IMMEDIATELY use the squeegee to flatten out the film, drawing from center towards the perimeter of glass. If you notice any folds or creases, pull the film up (evenly) from nearest narrow side until the crease is released, then spray more water on the exposed glass and squeegee the film back in place. Once everything looks good, use a sharp boxcutter or xacto knife to trim the excess film from glass perimeter. In the pics, my first skylight looked like crap because I did not spray with water. I caught a few creases that won't smooth out. The 2nd skylight I used a water spray, and it looks perfect - like a professional did it.

I purchased this for use on the large bay windows of my van. The vinyl was easy to apply as long as you use a good application paddle and some water. Avoid installing on hot days, as the vinyl will stretch during application. It works as it should and looks great.

As others have mentioned, it tears pretty easy right at the tape, which is many times more durable than the actual vinyl. More importantly and somehow I missed this, but this is meant to be applied to the outside of the window....which is pretty hard when I'm trying to block people from seeing in my 3rd floor window....but I guess if I can't see them looking in because I can't look out, are they actually looking in?

I purchased a this for privacy and cover some windows that are showing signs of being older, on a 1967 Yacth, looks fantastic love it, even feels cooler inside (So. Florida heat) I did have it applied by a professional tint Company, too many windows to mess with. She looks so pretty!
