I've relied on Vornado fans for about 20yrs or more. This is a great floor fan, smaller than most clunky, space-hogging floor fans, but it is powerful for its size, and much quieter than most floor fans. Vornado fans have been reliable work horses for me and I love the fact that they are very easy to clean, fronts come off easily, no tools necessary. They may run a little more expensive than fans that are seemingly comparable, but every time I try to "save money" with a cheaper one, I'm always sorry. Most are difficult or impossible to clean, and so many break down before their time. I've always been satisfied with these fans. ... show more

    • Great job keeping cool
The fan really moves cool around. Weighs a bit but feels well made. Using in a small rental and it really helps my air conditioning unit keep it cool. Not going to lie the higher speed is noisy but it’s worth it. Love the color and size. Very impressed. :))

I believe I have purchased every type Vonado fan. This fan moves a large quantity of air. It is also the most noisy Vornado I've every owned. On the lowest speed it still is a very loud fan. It is a quality fan that should last for generations! And, did I mention it is very loud?

    • Works well, but…
For 30+ years, I have had to sleep with a fan. Blame it on night shift when I first started as a police officer. I need the noise and f course air flow. This fan gets A+ for noise. Each speed is loud but the highest is ridiculously loud. B- for air flow. I had a Vornato for many years but it finally died. It moved air much better than this one(it might have been a tad bigger). The highest speed doesn’t move air at all. Make lots of noise but you can barely feel a breeze. The middle speed is where it’s best. Most air and good noise. Over all it gets an A because it’s working for me. But only 4 stars. ... show more

This fan is powerful and produces great sound to sleep to or drown out other sounds. Excellent to sleep to. Produces a great amount of air also. Love how powerful and loud it is.

Best purchase, heavy duty, quality-built. Using this to circulate air in my shed. A bit loud at 3 setting but, tolerable. Comfortably blowing air at 1 fan speed across a 10’x8’ shed. Mounted the fan on the back wall. Very flexible on install. Now, what to do with the stand? Lol

    • Finally. A good fan
I don't know about anyone else but I've had bad experiences with fans. You can't feel any air if you hold your hand up in front of them, even on high. Swivelling fans that start swivelling if you even look at them wrong when you just want the stupid things to push air where you want. I bought the next larger version of this fan for my bedroom and love love loved it. So I got this one for a smaller version and it's a beautiful fan as well. The air goes where you want it to and it's a such a sturdy little thing (and no stupid swivel). Attaching the base is surprisingly tricky. You MUST insert the base between the small metal washer and the large rubber one or it will start to slowly, sadly tilt down (something that drove me crazy with the larger version until I, duh, read the instructions). That metal washer is TINY and I thought the instructions were maybe for the wrong version cause I couldn't even see it. But it's there and I had to unscrew the knobs all the way and use a dental pick to coax the two washers apart. Of course I've read the one star reviews (who doesn't read those first?) and all I can say is it's not my experience. On the lowest setting it's whisper quiet and I can feel air several feet away. On the highest setting, yeah it's kinda loud - I mean it's not a MAGICAL fan - but the sound is all air, no motor noise or anything like that. Show me a fan that blows that much wind and is quiet at the same time. Doesn't exist. And when I need a fan to be on high just give me that sweet wind and I'll take some blowing noise. This was a great pick for a second fan, but honestly for a first room fan I'd go with the next size up. Maybe buy this one if you need it on your desk or you live in a shoe. It's not that this one isn't good, just that I've not found the larger size inconvenient at all in my bedroom. And you get more wind at about the same noise level. I can't comment on durability since I just got it but I've had the larger fan for nearly a year of almost constant use with no problems. ... show more

    • Very inefficient
This is the second Vornado fan we've bought. The first one (model 279) is very efficient and very quiet on the low setting. This fan is neither. Barely moves air and quite noisy on the low setting. Too loud to use on the other two settings. If it was still within the return period, we'd DEFINITELY return it. The only positive is that the fan frame is very heavy duty. Probably okay for someone using it outdoors where noise isn't an issue. Otherwise, don't waste your money. ... show more
