The design of these lights offer many advantages, especially to the home remodeler. Unlike canned style recessed lights, you cannot make a mistake in placement since the light is 1/2” it can be installed into drywall ceilings directly beneath rafters and joists. I like the junction box design as it satisfies code. I do however, recommend using better connectors than the one supplied. For 4” they are surprisingly bright, so you may want to consider a LED compatible dimmer switch. The selectable Kelvin adjustments make color changing/ matching a breeze. At 5 foot spacing and a 9’ ceiling, they spend most of the time dimmed but are great at full intensity, especially when hosting parties. My recommendation as a longtime user of these ultra slim lights is to but 1-2 extra. The LEDs are good for thousands of hours, but the driver in the junction box may not. Of the 50 installed in my home, 2 drivers have been swapped out for failing. Buying the separate driver is as expensive as the entire fixture and companies change specs, connectors, etc. Overall, very pleased with these lights! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: 1 month post-install and one of the lights is defective. Flickering crazily. Video attached. Original review: Halo folks, These are nice looking wafer lights for less money and less convenience than the more expensive market leader brand found in the big box stores. Pros: 1. Visually appealing / looks like a nice wafer led light. 2. Inexpensive compared to leading brand. 3. Similar connectivity / daisy-chain with connector. 4. Works fine with on/off switch (I’m not installing a dimmer because I want these on or off and I have a lot of these lights on this one circuit so it’s not prudent to use a dimmer in this use case either). Cons: 1. Gasket between the wafer and ceiling is moveable so you have to be aware of it when inserting the light or you’ll see the gasket peeking out from one side. 2. Some of the wafers are ever so slightly bent, creating a very slight variance in how it sits against the ceiling. Most will not notice, or not care, so not a huge deal. 3. Electrical box requires you: a. add the provided connector clip to the 3 wires in the box, b. remove the metal hole covers where the electrical wires will enter the box, c. insert your own wire protective sleeve/crimper in the razor sharp hole(s) you just created. Not a huge deal if you have the extra time and the sleeves/crimps for the 1 or 2 holes in each box. 4. The 2700k setting is yellower than any other 2700k I’ve seen. The lighting overall is slightly harsher than the market leader brand. Summary: Would I install in my primary living space? Maybe. Basement or garage? Absolutely. ... show more

A few years ago we finished our basement. I hung 51 of these lights -- most in 6 inch size, but perhaps 16 or so in 4 inch. I must say that they have exceeded all expectations! I am fairly handy, and if you are not I imagine some could have issues cutting their drywall properly. Other than that, they installed easily. About 2 years ago I had 2 that started to hum, and I merely swapped in new wafers and all have been perfect since. I think these lights are an EXTREME value! ... show more
