  • Five stars surround sound on a budget
The other reviews must have received bunk speakers because I upgraded from first generation Visio sound bar with subwoofer to this and I’m blown away. Totally feels like I’m in the cinema in my living room. Noticeably different/superior listening experience. Easy to set up right out of the box no tweaking required yet. The left and right little speakers are smaller than I imagined to my surprise but they seem to be efficient. It is important to note that these speakers are connected via hard wire to subwoofer but I think they give 25+ feet of cable for this so plenty of room. Very happy with the purchase and happy to have saved some cash by buying refurbished! ... show more

  • If you have no idea what to do with your money: give it to poor kids!!!
No idea why such a huge crowd saying big words about this Vizio Soundbar: It sounds like crap! All sounds are mingled together in a cacophony of noises; the “suppose to be” surround rear speakers are just spitting out weird cracking mess; at last the subwoofer is covering everything else!

  • Great value atmos soundbar with a few gotchas for some
Ok. You have to understand I love atmos. I have a Sony ST5000. Great sound bar. Could have been amazing(no rear speakers). Anyway in to the vixio. Pros - great sound quality. Solid sub that quite frankly surprised me. Upward firing speakers do a great job. Easy setup. Great value. Goes toe to toe with the premium speakers. Cons- the rear speakers connect wired to the wireless sub via a interesting rca kind of connector. This could limit where you put the rear channels I was really hoping they were wireless. The menu is through a unlit tiny lcd on the remote. Do yourself a favor and download the app. Be patient when connecting. Mine restarted after downloading firmware. There is no real way to know that. The app is much better but still awkward. One other negative is only two hdmis. Arc and a second connector. I used it for my Apple TV to get atmos. No eARC so you can’t pass atmos through the tv really. Anyway you may think I’m trashing it. But know it’s perfect for my mom. I didn’t tell her I switched it and she did a wow compared to her old 150 dollar Sony soundbar. She said what a difference! Voice is so clear. Etc. so I’m giving it five stars based on where in the segment it is. ... show more

  • VIZIO SB36512-F6B ("B" means used/renewed) purchased 4-2018 It's decent...
Re: VIZIO SB36512-F6 “Renewed” So… I did buy this SB unit new, but as it happened, I never received it; FedEx says it was damaged in shipment and I never saw it. Returned to the sender, a “Shipped by Amazon” but not Amazon vendor. Consequently, I bought the “renewed” version. Had to; no more new ones. Vizio has reconditioned units that it sells to other vendors and ONLY HAS A 90 DAY WARRANTY. Pay with your gold card or above that has Buyers Assurance and double that. Just saying. There were problems and I’ll do them first. Getting the four units collectively linked to the app that Visio makes was a non-starter. Didn’t work. But that was ameliorated by calling Vizio (overseas call and they didn’t want to say where they were). Those overseas call were not a pleasant experience and talking more locally solved that (Thank you guys!). Soundbar WILL automagically check its firmware when attached to the internet via Wi-Fi (not working till I got a better handle on getting it connected that way) OR the ethernet jack which I used. Then getting it connected was a nightmare; took several calls and then the company had to push the firmware update as it could actually SEE my soundbar. That Was Unsettling. It phones home to the mothership?? Then a manual firmware update pull via the front-panel buttons. One problem solved as the independent sub-woofer and two rear satellite units (work as a unit and wirelessly, GREAT!) worked immediately upon pairing to the soundbar across the room. And then…the ultimate problem: The soundbar would just…fall off the HDMI-ARC. Just fall off my 75” Series 6 TCL TV. Every Night. Sometimes 4-5 times a night. Aggravating. That’s why I needed the firmware updates again. After two weeks of troubleshooting, I still had that issue. Vizio agreed to send me a replacement unit with my credit-card hostage  No worries on that account; I was expecting that. Time passes. Then, even after I contacted TCL about the issue (prior to some of the Vizio people working with me), another TCL firmware package happened JUST as the replacement came. No communication from TCL prior, I was just going through TCL system settings and a, “Well, what do you know, a FIRMWARE update!” Applied; couldn’t hurt, right? Now, “The Problem” *seems* to be gone. Not quite sure as I’m scared that my 90 day warranty will lapse and I do have the other unit…but the drop-off issue has apparently gone. I think. I’m awaiting a call from Jason (Vizio USA) to see if the issue was the TCL firmware update or the Vizio firmware that *could* have come in the interim. That’s the bad…kinda ugly. The good is quite good so I’m keeping the bugger. Rtings and other rating groups had it as a go-get-it and that’s why I originally got it. It does have decent volume and, once the kinks are worked out, it’s a good addition to the TCL Series 6 TV. The Atmos is ok, not great, but ok; I agree with another reviewer; the plane of Atmos is kinda flat. The pricier version of the soundbar has the rear satellite units with Atmos upward firing drivers; the unit I got didn’t have those. And it wasn’t worth the $500 premium for a slightly larger Sub and two more up facing drivers in the rear. That’s a shame as I’d have pushed a bit more money into the unit had it been more reasonably priced. Incidentally, I have a Polk Sub and it pumps base so much I have to put a leash on it to keep the neighbors dental fillings from falling out or the crockery from falling from shelves (no kidding on the last part. The Vizio sub doesn’t compare, but as a gestalt all-in-one system, I do like the overall experience. One Seriously-Nice-Feature: The sub and the satellite rear speakers are separated from the main soundbar; no wires as it’s Bluetooth connected. Oh yes, the satellite speakers are a wired connect to the sub, but as they’re all next to or behind my couch, that’s just perfect for my placement. Bravo on that. All in all this is a good and worthy purchase for less than $400 from Amazon. Now that the kinks are worked out, I can say this: Get the firmware updates, do it out-of-the-box, I did and it’s what is needed. Get the firmware for your TV; my 75R615 needed the update and it came (late 6/2020) just as I was about to exchange the Vizio system. I suspect many of the problems was the TCL TV not the soundbar but, as I was saying earlier, I’m checking into that. I’m sorry that I couldn’t get the respective companies to talk to each other, but the problem seems to be solved; I will send the other unit back and keep what I have. ... show more

  • WOW .. for $300 this blew me away
I had a soundbar that had issues .. I decided to take a chance on this because of the Dolby Atmos and price and I am pleasantly blown away by the sound quality and how loud and full it is. I had to show my wife the purchase info for her to believe I didn't spend $1000+ on this sound system. Well worth it. ... show more
