When I read all the reviews for this product, I felt a bit iffy, but decided to take a Chance on it. Once ir arrived, it came in two boxes. All pieces arrived intact without any damage. It took me about 4 hours to put together. I took the advice of others and used a screwdriver to hand tighten. Only problem I had was with the anchors that put the drawers together. I tightened an anchor a little too hard and it protruded out the other side. Other than that, the desk looks nice and is pretty sturdy for its price. Below I attached some pictures of said desk (with banana for scale). ... show more

  • Do not use drill to assemble-not bad for price
When it comes out of the box it looks VERY cheap and junky. Smaller than you think. The directions are fantastic which is rare. Once you put it together its not too bad. Just don't use a drill!!! Use a hand screwdriver or you will overtighten and rip the cheap wood. Again I want to stress how crappy and cheap and small this "LOOKS" when coming out of the box. When put together we ordered another one for our school. Perfect combination/balance of low cost, decent quality. ... show more

  • Better instructions than Ikea, worse hardware
I built this the day after building some IKEA furniture, and some of the differences were apparent. First the good things about this desk. The hardware came in a bunch of small packages labeled with various letters. Each of the larger parts was identified with a numbered sticker. The instructions would say attach Panel 5 to Panel 6 using the screws in package E. There was also a picture there showing how the parts fit together. This was very easy for me to follow, as there was no question about what hardware was to be used. (The IKEA furniture had hardware that looked the same except for slight distinctions in size, and I sometimes grabbed the wrong one and tried it before realizing the error). Another good feature was the inclusion of a hardware bag labeled spares (maybe it was extras?) that had extra parts if you needed them for some reason. I liked that they were in another bag as you could double check that you had used the right amount of hardware by the fact that the bag emptied out when you were done with that step (or the group of similar steps). Now the bad part. The hardware that comes with this desk is not as good as the IKEA hardware. We had to dig into the spare parts bag a few times to replace hardware that broke while we were building it. In particular, the cam lock connectors were prone to have issues. One broke entirely while being tightened up, and it took some work to get the pieces back out of the hole so it could be replaced. I'm fairly certain several more were bent in some way as the sit crooked in the holes. In contrast, the IKEA hardware went together cleanly and without issues. Another small issue is quality control on drilled hole sizes. As parts were attached, and the same screw was used in several places, some of them started right in, and others required some effort and force to get started into the holes as if they were just slightly undersized. It all ended up going in, it just surprised me how much difference there could be in driving what should be the same fastener into the same hole. One more note about building this. It all goes together with a Phillips head screwdriver, and they provide one with the hardware. Do yourself a favor and get a good screwdriver, and preferably one that ratchets. Their screwdriver isn't any better than the rest of the hardware, and the end will get torn up. I used a ratcheting screwdriver with a good Phillips head tip on it. It grabbed the screws much better, and i could just twist my hand back and forth to tighten up the hardware rather than having to put the tip back int he screw each time. ... show more

  • very good and sturdy desk
Desk is very sturdy and quality is great! the holes all line up perfectly. Some parts do require 2 people for about 5-10 mins but i only required help for 1 part which was the hinges on the cabinet door. The desk itself is not light and not just sawdust but solid wood . It did take about 2-3 hours to put together and instructions were pretty good. Overall great value for the dollars spent ... show more

  • inventory
Guess I should start by saying I should have inventoried everything first....as I purchased two of these desks, got halfway through assembly to find out there were major missing pieces. I called and I had the option of sending it back (would need to un-assemble what I assembled already and the boxes I opened were no longer in shipping shape and they would eventually come pick them up...and eventually I would get another two boxes that may or may not have all pieces. If you are to buy this item, do a complete inventory check first or you'll be in the same boat. Case to remember is that the very same pieces were missing from both orders so the likelihood that many more boxes with these desks in them are missing items as well ... show more

  • Great desk for home office
Got this desk for my wife to use in her home office. I liked how the pieces were all labeled and the hardware was seperated into individual slots and marked. I did have difficulty on one section of the filing cabinet box, the top piece would not fit flush with the cam locks in the holes already as instructions stated. I finally figured out after several minutes of trying to take them out, then put the piece on and then add the locks and turn them to lock in place. Other than that it was pretty easy to put together. It will require 2 people for parts of it due to having to hold and align some bigger pieces. ... show more
