  • Here's how to put it together...
Color: Black
Thanks to all the other reviewers for their input. Here's how I put it together and it worked great. 1. The first step in the book is to assemble the legs. IMO this should be last because they're big and just take up a ton of your workspace. Put the metal bars back in the box until the end. Also, part E has the pins on both ends. Part F has pins on one end and holes on the other. G is obvious based on the shape and has holes on both ends. 2. When assembling the tumbler, here's the order. Remove the doors completely and attach the door holder part to one side. Be sure to tighten all screws fully as you're not coming back around at the end. I found it easiest to just hold the nut and use the screwdriver to tighten fully. Trying to hand tighten the nuts left me with sore fingertips and no improvement to function. Attach 3 of the sides (for a total of 4 sections) or 4 of the sides if you want to make the middle both easier and harder at the same time (keep reading and then choose your path... wisely...) When attaching, pop in the clip parts along the long edge first, then the short edge. It's easier than the reverse. Attach the other end to the 4 or 5 sections you already assembled with the first side. This will keep them in place as you add the middle insert. Slide the middle insert in slightly off kilter and rotate it into place. If you have 4 pieces this will be easier, but it will fall out more easily so you'll be cursing while you attach the 5th panel. If you have 5 panels attached at this point, you'll need to angle it in, then bend it slightly to pop past the inner fins and shift it into each of the slots on the inside of the panels. Note here that there are black arrows both on the inside of the panels and the center divider. Make sure they're on the same side for the best fit (the arrows on the center divider are only on one side. Make sure they point to the ones on the panels.) Another important thing about the center divider that I got from another review. It will be flush against the panel that holds the doors. It will appear to fit correctly there. For the other panels, there will be small openings in the corners. This is expected. The measurements of the unit are such that it cannot be flush against all the sides. It's ok!!! Add the remaining panels and be sure to fully tighten all screws. Again, if you hold the nut in place rather than trying to screw it on, it will be easier. Assemble the legs Insert and attach pole (yes the nut only goes on "so far" and then stops. This is expected) Add the doors, plus symbol outside Voila! I can't speak to how well it composts yet, but anything will be better than my current pit method. I'm happy so far and will probably get a second one for all my composting needs. ... show more

  • Use Duct Tape to Help With Assembly
Color: Orange
If you're intimidated by the prospect of assembling this tumbler, I have two words for you: duct tape. I had difficulty initially holding the sections together while simultaneously trying to thread the nuts onto the bolts. Then I decided to use duct tape and after that, it was a breeze. And to really speed it along, use a piece of tape placed over the head of the bolts while you thread on the nuts from the inside. Took me about an hour. ... show more

  • Excellent Compost Bin
Color: Black
It has been 4 years since setting up this product and even in direct UV light, it has not shown any signs of discoloration, distortion, or drying out but the steel pipe frame is showing signs of rusting out in some areas so be sure to either recoat the frame or you can touch it up in some spots as they happen. Great product nonetheless and at a great price. Assembly can be a bit weird and confusing but once you get two sides going, the rest is a piece of cake but follow the directions as there is only one way to assemble this product. I would definitely recommend this product. ... show more

  • Great value, made well
Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. Very happy with this purchase! As others have stated assembly isn't difficult but it's very tedious... Took me about an hour. Build quality seems great, and I think this capacity is about right for our needs. Honestly I think this is the best value around. I live in a fairly large city but there was zero options available locally. I spent about a week researching and finally pulled the trigger on this one. I think we should be able to use it for years to come. ... show more

  • Will probably complete its intended use, would not buy again
Color: Black
Although this bin appears like it will do its job, I would not purchase this one again. First, it was not the easiest thing to assemble. I did put it together by myself but it required, what felt like, 1 million bolts to be put in while holding the pieces just right so there wouldn’t be a gap in between them. The doors are even smaller than the picture makes them look. A standard shovel does not fit through the door. If you plan on using manure for compost then you can plan on using a mini shovel or your hands to get it in there. I also have a medium kitchen bowl for food scraps that spills everywhere if I try to dump it in. Everything has to be put in with my hands. Because of this, I am also concerned how difficult it might be to get the compost out when that time comes. My last complaint is the lack of good handles to turn the bin with. I will say that it feels pretty sturdy after it’s all put together. The base doesn’t look or feel like it’s going to fall apart while the bin is turning. I originally felt like it wasn’t going to be big enough but after starting our first batch it does hold more than a person would think. We use it for our small chicken coop clean outs, yard debris and food waste for a family of four. ... show more

EASY ASSEMBLY, SO FAR HAS HELD TOGETHER WELL

  • So far, so good
Color: Orange
Easy setup. The bolts that secure the box to the stand did not have the proper nuts so I had to replace them with ones from big box store. Went together smoothly. Just be sure to follow step by step or you may need to backtrack. First load of scraps being processed. We will see what the end result is fairly soon, hopefully. ... show more
