Our pool is 10x20’, 4,800 gallons and this pump works perfectly! When filling the pump with sand follow the instructions. I didn’t have and sand in the pool after installing it. Other reviews indicated that they did. I did get a little bit of sand in the inner basket while filling it, so I took the basket out, emptied the sand then turned the sand tank on its side to reinsert the basket. The pump is quiet and powerful. Backwashing is simple. I added a 15’ backwash hose to direct the water where I wanted it to go.

It was easy to assemble and it worked really great for about 3 weeks. It started leaking along the seam and then totally cracked on both sides along the seam.

So far so good and way better than the original intex pump. It has only been a few days but the pool is cleaner than ever and having it set on a timer makes this a kind of set it and forget it situation. The reason I gave it four stars is because I had to buy the Intex adapters, not a big deal, but I swear I read in the product information that it came with these adapters. Also, people gripe about the directions, I didn't have a problem with them, but I wish the drain plug was pre-installed, not that I'm not capable but they come this way on two other systems which was helpful because if you forget to tighten this one enough a tiny leak occurs and to fix it you'd have to disconnect, remove the sand and on and on or be okay with a tiny, drop of a leak gnawing away in the back of your mind endlessly, you know it's there but you are not sure it is worth the effort to fix since you have six or so weeks of summer left and you have literally spent 90% of your time just getting the pool up and going and maintaining it hoping to spend the other 10% actually enjoying it whatever that means because after all it is an above ground pool and small at that only coming up to your waste and sits in the sun for approximately 28.5 minutes a day.

Instructions hard to follow. Did not come with the hex Tool. There was no line for min/max fill for sand. If I had it to do over would have bought a different one. Mess shooting sand out in the pool. Started from scratch twice now. Would not recommend this sand pump filter. Wish I had bought a different one. Have spent over a week trying to get this stupid pump to work right and still not working. Very frustrated at this point.

Surprisingly happy with this purchase- I have a small doggy pool-3000gallons and this works perfectly! Quiet and just right! Only weird thing was you can only attach the pump to the filter stand facing one way and I wanted it facing the opposite way but the cord juuuust reached enough to the outlet so all worked out!
