  • Great electric bike for half the cost!
Color: 48V 500W Black
We bought two of these bikes for my husband and I to ride around the neighborhood or take while we're camping. The shipment was excellent as they arrived earlier than expected (shipment was from NJ or somewhere in the NE) and the boxes were intact with no damage. Husband assembled both bikes and said, for the most part, the instructions were pretty clear and he was able to figure out the confusing parts. The bike is sturdy and heavy, around 60 lbs. It's foldable and folds at the frame, but the handle and pedals don't fold and the bike is still bulky and heavy when trying to insert the folded bike into the cargo area of a hatchback car. We ended up having a hitch installed on one of our cars and purchasing a sturdy bike rack (from Amazon) that would carry at least 120 lbs. in order to transport these bikes whenever we wanted to take them to the greenways in our city. The battery is large and heavy, but there is a bag that carries it at the handlebar so it's easily removable to bring the battery into the house to charge it. There are 2 cords leading out of the battery, one to charge it and another to connect it to the bike. You have to thread the connection cord through the small hole at the bottom of the bag in order to connect it to the bike wiring, and that is a bit of a headache to work it through the hole. The controller to activate the pedal assist works pretty well while cycling. It activates within 2 seconds of holding down the on/off switch and you can feel it kick in to propel you forward. I usually turn it off when I am going through tight spaces like a small, narrow bridge or lane to stay in control of the bike, but definitely use the pedal assist feature on incline and hills. We have hilly terrain in our subdivision and some streets require me to use the medium setting to get to the top of the hill, and it does it quite easily. The low setting is usually enough for me to get around. I haven't needed to use the high setting because so far the med setting gets me up the steeper streets. There is a throttle on the right side of the handlebar that allows you to use the pedal assist feature continuously without pedaling but I haven't needed to use it often. I definitely love the pedal assist feature to get up those hilly streets! We had to switch the seats to wider seats because the one that comes with the bike is very narrow and uncomfortable. We also got sturdier and louder bells as the one that came with the bike is lousy and has a puny sound. We added bottle holders easily to the bike frame since there were 2 screws for that purpose already on the frame. I do wish they would have included mirrors to help when we're maneuvering and turning on the street. That's something else we'll have to buy. Also, there is no speedometer but I found an app for my phone to help monitor my speed and distance. The fenders are kind of flimsy but they work. At my height of 5'3", the height of the bike is okay and I can easily stand on the balls of my feet when the bike is stopped, but I end up hitting and kicking the back fender regularly when getting on the bike, and I have to straighten it up. We're really happy with these bikes and so far haven't had any major issues (knock on wood.) We especially love the lower cost for this electric bike and that it looks good, works very well, and has a year warranty. ... show more

  • Good for the money.
Color: 48V 500W White
Not sure who put the stuff on the handle bars before shipping, but they got the handle on the bars right, but the shifter and break were facing the wrong way. All I had to do was loosen the bolts holding them and rotate them to the correct side. The ergernomic grip covers would be nice on a regular mountain bike, but are wasted on an ebike with a throttle as one hand is constantly changing its angle and the wing on the grip gets in the way. Changing out the grips seems to be one of the first things most people replace right away on this bike. The tires on this bike are okay for city riding and okay for mountain biking, but don't really excel for either use. I would say just put mountain bike tires on this bike and be done with it. Most people that buy this bike seem to replace the tires pretty quickly as well. The pedals on this are a very odd design. Most people are not a fan of them. I don't like them too much myself and will probably replace them with something cheaper and better suited for mountain biking. The rear suspension doesn't have much give to it and has a weird plastic cover on it. Might be something you will want to replace ir upgrade later on. Overall it's a good quality bike, great for the price. It just seems that the manufacturer spent extra money on things for this bike where they shouldn't have, but these are simple things to update, fix and make this bike your own. It functions just fine out of the box and works pretty well as a basic commuter or a mountain bike. ... show more

  • Excellent full featured ebike for the price!
Love it - thumbs up. Packaged extremely well and with diligent care. Custom made foam pieces protect everything. This is a sturdy bike. Assembly was quick and easy. I would not advise depending upon written instructions, instead look for assembly videos on the amazon store page. Takes about an hour to put together if you are simultaneously drinking a couple of beers. Every mechanism is top notch. The frame is solid. The wheels and tires are the latest and greatest. The gears and shifters are amazing. The disc brakes are perfect. The adjustable handlebars are exactly what you hope for. (No, I don’t work for the company). Here’s the story: Due to an injury (car accident - not my fault) I went from being an avid bike rider to not being able to ride at all without severe debilitating back pain. Every five years or so I would give it a try and it was a no go. After 17 years I thought I’d try an ebike so we rented a couple. Tried it for a couple of miles - no back pain - then a few more - no back pain - whew. After renting Electra bikes for several weekends we decided to purchase our own - the Electra’s were going for about $3k so we tried Amazon instead. I purchased a mountain bike style for me and a cruiser style (this one) for my wife. We had only pedaled a mile when she made us switch. To tell the truth, the cruiser is probably better for my back anyway. So here I am, 6’2”, 220 lb. middle age man on this white cruiser. It IS Excellent. Love it. Admittedly the pedal assist mode is not quite as good as the Bosch motors on the Electras that we rented, but for the price, it is very close. It has 3 assist speeds that range from about 12 mph up to 18 mph. It has a throttle built into the hand grip which is a nice feature that the Electra’s did not have (only PAS mode). And the downsides: The interface is simple, maybe too simple - no digital read out, no speedometer - just some red leds that tell you the PAS mode and battery life (oh, and we did several 25+ mile rides and still had at least 20 % battery left). I did replace the seat post (cheap). It was too short and it is specially made to allow battery removal - that is a design flaw. The stock seat post is a bit wobbly because of this feature. One other minor complaint is we suffered a flat tire early on and the bike mechanic revealed that the rim tape was sub par (whatever that means to an upseller). Finally, I state that this is a “sturdy” bike but it moves very well. You can pedal it with zero power and it is almost as smooth as a motor less cruiser. The battery is key activated which is an excellent security feature. ... show more
