I bought this for my dad - he has dementia, and is also a fall risk, but doesn't remember that he can't walk safely unassisted. I saw some people were not happy that the clip is in the back, but for our purposes, the clip in the back is perfect, because it prevents my dad from undoing the strap and possibly getting up and falling. This works really well to keep him in the wheelchair so he is safe. If you are someone who needs to be able to open the strap on your own, then this may not work for you. For our needs, its perfect.

My mom has dementia. Sometimes she cannot hold herself up, and during those times, I use this belt. I am able to buckle the strap behind the chair back. It does a good job of holding my mom up; I put it under her armpits, and this helps to keep her upper back against the chair back. She has freedom to move and turn, but she is not expending all her energy to try to sit up to eat.

After an illness my grandfather lost the ability to walk and went into care. He didn't need to be fully bed bound and could join the other residents for meals and activities in a wheelchair. However, the chair that insurance gave us didn't have any kind on restraint system and for safety we needed something to help keep him stable. This belt was both an affordable and useful solution. It was wide enough to help my grandpa stay upright in his chair ( since he couldn't use his legs to adjust his seat) but wasn't so cumbersome as to restrict movement or strap him fully to the chair. It was easy to take on and off as he was transferred from bed to chair and back.
