I’ve gone through my fair share of mannequin heads while practicing for my license, and the FUTAI African American Mannequin Head is hands down the best one I’ve owned. If you’re looking for a head that actually mimics the texture and density of real hair rather than that weird, plastic-feeling synthetic stuff, this is it. Texture & Hair Quality: The label says 100% Real Human Hair, and after doing a wash and a heat test, I can confirm it’s legit. The texture is a beautiful, thick Yaki that feels very natural. Unlike cheaper models, the hair isn't "patchy." The density is consistent from the crown all the way down to the nape, which is a lifesaver when you're trying to practice clean parting or sectioning for stitch braids. Styling & Heat Versatility: I’ve used my flat iron on this at 350°F and even did a full blowout. There was zero melting and no gross chemical smell. Braiding: The grip is perfect. It has enough "tooth" to the hair that my feed-in braids don't slip, but it’s smooth enough that it doesn't tangle into a bird's nest while I'm working. Washing: I washed it with sulfate-free shampoo and deep conditioned it. It held its pattern well and didn't shed nearly as much as I expected. The Scalp Realism: The way the hair is implanted is very realistic. It doesn't have those giant "plugs" that make your parting look like a lawn. You can actually practice intricate cornrows and have them look salon-ready. The skin on the face also has a nice matte finish, so if you're a makeup artist practicing lash application or facial contouring, it works for that too!

The media could not be loaded. It works perfectly for my purposes. I bought it to practice lighting techniques for photography. I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to attach it to a light stand when I ordered it but I thought I would figure something out and I HAVE! All you need is a super clamp, a block of wood and a light stand. Set up the mannequin head per the accompanying instructions, set up the light stand, screw the super clamp unto to the light stand and clamp the block of wood into the super clamp. Then clamp the mannequin head into the opposite end of the block of wood. For those using this mannequin head to practice combing black hair. The texture feels almost similar. I’m black and I’m not the least bit offended by the texture. I expected lots of shedding but it doesn’t shed as much as my own hair so I am quite satisfied. I’m happy I ignored the reviews and took the chance to buy this. I would recommend it. I love that it won’t take up much space in my small shooting area. It’s a cheap alternative to a life size mannequin. Being able to affix it to a light stand makes it possible for me to use it to do self portraits seated as well. It is good value for the money and I would gift it to little girls learning to plait their hair.

Full head of hair, great for practicing braids, Im so happy I got a kinky texture. It also came with a table stand to keep the mannequin sturdy. The hair is soft and thick with a kink to it that makes it easier to braid. Great, cost effective tool for beginners!
