I bought this for my father-in-law, who is 88 years old. We are staying in a VRBO while in escrow for a house, so installing something more permanent is not an option right now. I found some tips for getting suction cups to adhere, but the instructions for this product were just as helpful. The only additional tip that might help is heating the surface with a blow dryer before putting the suction cups in place if it's cold. The cushion is comfortable and stays in place. This is a good solution for us.

I bought the elongated version to replace a cushioned seat that no longer felt soft. I have had this true cushion about two weeks; and, so far, it is great. Installation was easy and took less than a minute. The suction cups adhere very well to conventional hard seat. Removal for cleaning or whatever else is also very easy. A small "putty knife" is enclosed to assist with the suction cups. It is not really needed, as the cups have a small projection that can be used for suction cup release. It is good to have it just in case. There are two things about the cushion to be aware of if you are considering a purchase. First, with the cushion mounted on the seat, the commode cover cannot be lowered, nor can the seat be raised. The second thing generally refers to the men. Because the lid cannot be raised, you need to take good aim when you urinate. The target area is no longer the entire bowl, so be careful. If there are women in the house, all the more reason not to leave the seat wet! At first, I found these things annoying; however, when I weighed that against the comfort of the cushion, the cushion was the winner. Besides, if there is a need to raise or lower seat or cover, it only takes a moment to remove the cushion. So far, I am loving it, but should the comfort diminishes too soon, I'll update.

Because of a back injury, I've needed more help in some areas of daily living. One of those areas I've had difficulty with is sitting down on the toilet. My back spasms when I lower myself down low, so a toilet seat lift or cushion was needed. This seat cushion is the right height for people like me who are short in stature. I'm 5' 0" and I knew the higher cushions, such as 4" cushions, would mean that I'd be on tippy toes trying to ease myself onto the seat. This 2" deep cushion is perfect for my short height. The density of the cushion is not very thick, so if you're overweight it may flatten a bit over time. I'm not very thin but this cushion has maintained its thickness so far. The vinyl is comfortable. The cushion attaches with suction cups - I cleaned my toilet seat first and dried it before applying the cushion. The suction cups keep the cushion in place, but the cushion can fairly easily be removed if someone else in the house wants to remove it.

UPDATE I had a great experience until they started manufacturing this item poorly. The suction cup in front wouldn't stay stuck. and my PCA and I struggled with this for months until I was in good enough health do do anything about it. I asked Vive them to send me a replacement for the cushion that didn't last the year. They refused, saying the warranty is 60 days. I bought a new one which seems to be working well, and it has more suction cups. But I no longer feel good about this company. I'll change my rating back when they start standing behind their products for at least a year. Meanwhile, I'll be looking for another vendor. ORIGINAL Saved My A** This product saved my a**…literally. I was indicated for a much more expensive Roho cushion and during the pandemic, they were back ordered everywhere. This completely meets my needs. I was a little skeptical at first that it wouldn’t provide enough support bc I have another cushion like it that’s twice as high. When I sit on THAT one, the cushion deflates and my bum ends up hitting the seat. Not this one! It’s much firmer that the other taller one and does a better job at providing the needed comfort, taking the pressure off my legs. I have an elongated seat on my toilet lift so the other one didn’t fit that and was constantly falling off. ( I have a LiftSeat brand toilet lift.) Occasionally, one of the front suction cups on this model pops loose but no big deal. I just readjust it and press and it’s fine. I suppose I could try to remedy that by putting a little vegetable oil on it. Also, the vinyl fabric covering is taut and smooth and has been easy to clean. I highly recommend this toilet seat cushion.

I bought the 2 inch foam and I really liked it for the first month, but then it started to break down really fast and did not provide hardly any cushion support at all. And I am not a heavy person at 140 lb. I am now ordering the 4 inch to see if that holds up a little bit better. I would recommend the white. It’s easier to see if it needs to be cleaned. I found it cleaned up very easily and mine has not cracked so far. The suction cups do not have a lot of suction, but that’s OK because I don’t move around a lot, And I found I don’t need the tool to take this off and on, you can just reach underneath and flip the little tabs on the suction cups, and they come right off. If I have company or I don’t want this on, I can take it off and on very easily. I also chose this model because everything it sits on top of the toilet ring versus other models that have straps that go under the ring which could be exposed to bacteria or splashing.
