I used these to pin springs for an RV awning and topper replacement. Bent the heck out of one, but they did the job. Beat the bent one back into shape, and put them in my tool bag. I don't think it's the tools fault, those springs have a lot of tension. Happy with the product, would use them again.

If you're a creative type on a tight budget like myself, you're pretty familiar with what Harbor Freight has to offer. I've had the same blue-handled awl from HF for ages- I'm hoping that rings a bell if you're shopping & looking for a real-life reference. I already had the standard generic-cheap-tool awl & these are about half that diameter. I'm so glad I ordered these awls! They're just the right addition to what's easily available around here in stores. I haven't used them for any sewing projects yet but I've used them for some odds & ends. They *flew* through heavy plastic jugs I use to make small garden planters. Did my best to find some common reference points- hope this helps! The awl works ok. I gave 3 stars solely due to the advertising. From the description (and picture) I was led to believe that I was purchasing 2 awls and onlreceived 1. You need to pay a dollar more to get 2. So, this tool cost $4.99. Why would I purchase from this seller again when found another seller offering 4 of the exact same item for $5.99. Came as a package of two - one is pointy and sharp, another one is much thicker and dull. Steel is soft and easy to bent, hardness is not there. When I was using it for restitching leather sheath it was working just fine. If you are going to punch holes in thicker leather or some other hard use projects, it could be questionable or useless. When I was trying to get a point behind a rivet, awl got bent about 3/4" from the tip. It was easy to bent it back but.... It's cheap, and sometimes is useful. I had hard time to find good quality awl with very thin point, and this one is no good. YMMV. Another side of experience, I was waiting for it for TWO months when Amazon stated I will get it for 5-7 business days!! Very misleading. I would definitely spent money elsewhere if would of known it. ... show more
