1st Image - Ninja for 2.5 minutes 2nd Image - threw that into the Vitamix One for 30 seconds more. TLDR; Good for frozen fruit, ideally submerge with liquid, might have to scrape for a bit. Better than Ninja in 90 seconds. In a nutshell, I wanted to replace the Nutri Ninja Duo that we have. We use the cups (24oz and 32oz) with the detachable blade. We found that for frozen fruit, the Ninja was practically useless at times from the cups, and we'd be left with a Slushie rather than a thick smoothie. The slushie texture might be ok for some, but it depends on the fruit. I find that this blends frozen fruit quite decently. I was able to put 7 frozen strawberries and 1 cup of almond milk, with some protein powder, and blend it for about 90 seconds. In between, I did have to pause it and push down the sides once, because it is rock solid. However, the result after 90 seconds is a thick, slightly creamy, liquified smoothie. In the Nutri Ninja, I ran the machine for 2 and a half minutes, and I was basically stuck with a slushie. Pieces of strawberry, plenty of seeds, and an overall uneven mix. I even gave the Ninja an advantage by using smaller strawberries, and doing the test 8 minutes later, so the strawberries were starting to thaw. When people test these blenders, I wonder if they're doing a fair direct comparison vs. the other blender or not. I personally have never done straight up ice with a blender before, just never really had the desire for it, except to make those protein fluff ice cream things people try. I haven't made frozen desserts with this, though I expect you may need something that will cream up like frozen banana. This things tends to liquify so far, which is fine. Blackberry Seeds - good enough but not super smooth. There are definitely some seed bits for people who get them stuck in their tonsils. Strawberry Seeds - liquified, even when frozen. I think this would be good for a family member who gets food stuck in their tonsils. Flax Seeds - mostly liquified, but I used partly ground flax already. I threw a whole tablespoon of the stuff in there, pretty decent. The problem with flax seed is that the oils release and the seeds will stick to any blender I figure. I'll have to test with frozen bananas for whipped desserts to see how that goes. Even my Cuisinart Food Processor though had me leave the banana slices to defrost for 10 minutes before putting them into the blender, so honestly given that these were right out of the freezer, I'm pretty impressed. I haven't had the machine overheat and shut off for me, and I've heard the horror stories, so I'm cautious with it right now. ... show more

I've waited to review this product. I have this blender now for about 6 months. Its a lower level, like consumer grade, Vita-mix product. Which means its better than almost all other blenders out there. It works perfectly for smoothies. This is why i bought it. It will take organics down almost all they way. Micro chunkage. I like the one dial, some may not. It has about 4 speeds through out that dial as you turn it. Oh, its powerful and yes it's loud. But it kicks on other blenders of this level on the market for the $$. The best being the $500 Vita-mix's, which I've used for what they are intended for. This blender would not quite go there because there is no granularity in the speeds, and its probably a little less powerful than the top level VM's. etc. but I do not see this as a negative for this product. Anything you do with a consumer blender, you can do with this one and then just a bit more, Its not any harder to clean than any other blender. But.. it is loud. But works very well! I’d been looking at a Vitamix blender for about 6 months. I didn’t want to invest this much into one and instead I bought different ninjas- the ninja auto iq, a ninja personal one and a cheap on from Jcp. All 3 of those blenders are incredibly loud. Truthfully I think you should wear earplugs with those. I was concerned about that with this one because of the reviews. All I can say is that those that said this blender was loud, must not of had ninjas because this blender is much MORE QUIET than those. In fact I don’t even have to take it downstairs in the mornings at 5am when I make my morning smoothie to avoid waking the whole 2nd floor. This is the best blender I’ve ever purchased and wish I would of bought it sooner. I’ll never again own anything except Vitamix. Now, I only use it for smoothies and crushed ice but it can blend strawberries, blueberries……watermelon….anything with a seeds it completely blends and I’ve never had it full throttle. I can’t say enough good about it. It’s the easiest blender I’ve ever had to clean. A drop of soap, add water and turn it on for a few seconds and you are done. Love, love, LOVE this blender. If you are looking for one to just make smoothies then this is your blender. I should add that I bought this on sale, but now knowing how great it is I would of bought it if it wasn’t on sale. This is the WORST appliance I’ve ever purchased. I figured this would be a solid purchase, since it’s a vitamix, but boy was I wrong. The day after the return period ended - literally the day after!!! The vitamix stopped working for the first time. In the middle of making a smoothie, it just cut off and wouldn’t work! I couldn’t get it to turn on for several weeks, until one day it would turn on. This sequence of events has happened 4 times in the 4 months I’ve owned this product. It’s extremely temperamental, and I can’t figure out why it won’t work. In addition to all this, it’s SO LOUD. Way louder than any other blender I’ve ever had before. So save your money and your ears and buy something else. ... show more

I’ve had a number of ninjas but the last one needed ear plugs to operate. They get louder and louder. Sick of owning and tossing after 2 years I kept hearing about vitamix. I love that it’s counter footprint is not much more than the ninja. It’s not super heavy. It’s simple -no counter clutter with extra containers you don’t use. It’s powerful, fast, and most important built to last and has replaceable quality parts. Blends ice and everything fast quiet and smooth. Must buy! ... show more
