  • Fabulous Blender
Color: White (Discontinued) Size: Two 14oz Travel Cups and 2 Lids
Folks, this is not a Vita-mix. Nothing is a Vita-mix except a Vita-mix. However, this is a GREAT little blender. I purchased it to travel with, so that I could continue having smoothies for breakfast and keep eating raw - instead of having to eat cooked food out in the morning at the hotel. I was more than impressed with how well it made a smoothie, and how good it tasted, as well as how easily it cleaned up. *******HERE IS THE BIG KEY TO THIS BLENDER WORKING LIKE A CHARM***** >>> READ THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL THAT COMES WITH IT. <<<<< IT SAYS TO PULSE ONLY - SHORT PULSES, (THEN IT WORKS JUST FINE AS IT WAS BUILT TO WORK) - DO NOT HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN AND MAKE IT RUN NON STOP LIKE A REGULAR BLENDER - IT IS NOT MADE TO BE USED THAT WAY. ********************************************************************* I read all the reviews before I purchased mine - and was concerned about some people saying the motor burned out after a while, etc. I then saw some reviews that mentioned to pulse as stated in the instructions, and not just let the motor run forever by keeping the button pressed in for long periods. When I got mine, I actually called Hamilton Beach Customer Service, and spoke with the very nice lady who answered to find out more about this. She said you could pulse it many times for 1-2 seconds at a time. This works just fine. It does not make a totally smooth smoothie if there are things like pieces of carrot, celery, etc in it - but I very much liked that when I drank my smoothies - a Vitamix does not leave any little pieces like that - this was a very welcome change - it was fun to chew on some of the tiny little pieces of food in the drink - I know it may sound bad, but is is actually quite pleasant. You feel more like you are having a real meal. So when I got to the San Francisco Bay area with my brand new Hamilton beach mini blender - I went to Trader Joes and purchased some broccoli slaw, cucumber, pear, prunes, celery, green beans, spinach, field greens, carrots, broccoli, and maybe a couple of other greens - don't remember, and was ready to make my smoothie the next morning. I took both containers (it comes with 2 bpa free, very nice, high quality 16 oz. plastic containers with lids - very comfortable to drink from )- and made my first smoothies with it the next morning. I started by putting water in the bottoms, then cutting the above mentioned food up a bit, adding equal amounts of each ingredient to each of the two containers and then blended 1 16 oz container up at a time. I added some protein powder and green powder I had brought with me as well. I added a few little ice cubes (from the ice maker at the hotel) - and blended my little smoothies. It handled the ice and the food just fine! And the drinks were out of this world. Maybe I just lucked out, or maybe finally after 2 years I know what I'm doing - but I was /very/ pleased with how the blender handled, and with the drinks it made. I pulsed, pulsed, pulsed (just for less than a minute total of separate pulses) and it came out great every day. I then wiped the cups out with paper towels (so as to not plug up the bathroom sink) - then put some water in them with a couple of drops of liquid dish soap I brought with me and pulsed the solution - then shook the cup up and down with the lid on -and rinsed it out and set them upside down to dry on a drying cloth I brought with me - (from Walmart) - I was then very full and very happy for many hours after that with regard to food. There was a small little fridge in our room - which was essential to keep all the food cold during the week we were there. It was really the easiest and most delicious part of my day every day. Being raw vegan is hard enough at home sometimes - but traveling, it is next to impossible without this great little blender. If you use a blender for any reason at home, I highly recommend this one as a travel partner. I love it. Many people travel with their Vita-Mixes - but they are very heavy, and I would not want to lug it through the airport, etc, or risk hurting it in any way at any of the many places this could happen on an airplane trip. And as my suitcase weighed in at 49 lbs, I never would have made it with the Vita-Mix in there as well. I am very grateful to have this Hamilton Beach now, and highly recommend it to you too. ... show more

  • This blender is a game-changer
Color: Blue Size: 14 oz.
I recently purchased the Hamilton Beach Portable Blender, and I must say, I'm impressed. This blender is a game-changer for me. Its compact size makes it easy to take with me wherever I go, whether it's to the office or on a weekend getaway. I love how simple it is to use. Just add my favorite fruits, some ice, and a splash of juice, and in no time, I have a delicious and refreshing smoothie. The blending power is surprisingly strong for such a small device, and it effortlessly crushes ice and blends ingredients to perfection. Cleanup is a breeze too. The detachable parts are dishwasher safe, which saves me time and effort after enjoying my smoothie. Overall, I highly recommend the Hamilton Beach Portable Blender to anyone looking for a convenient and reliable blender for their on-the-go lifestyle. It's become an essential part of my daily routine, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. ... show more

  • The cap slips off too easily!!
Color: Raspberry Size: 14 oz.
I found that the motor and blades worked well and produced a very enjoyable smoothie. My major critique, however, is that the cap does not screw on, you mere push it on top of mixing unit and it easily slips off if you inadvertently lift by the cap. This has happened to me twice and it creates a major mess. Not a good design feature. ... show more

  • Super budget priced green smoothie maker!
Color: White (Discontinued) Size: Two 14oz Travel Cups and 2 Lids
Like many health conscious people, I've come to realize the importance of raw vegetables in my diet. I used to purchase green drinks but realized that they are pasteurized and full of sugar, and not really raw. So I have been making my own green smoothies in my 'old school' vitamix blender which does an awesome job at home. But there is no way I'm lugging a full sized blender to work. So when I decided to start adding freshly made smoothies to my work routine, I wanted a personal blender for easier toting and quieter operation. I looked at different brands, models, and reviews for several weeks prior to purchasing, and decided that most of the expensive models didn't really seem much better than the cheaper models considering the difference in price. Some features that were important to me were simplicity of design, quiet operation, and easy clean up. This blender got fairly consistent good reviews for those features. I don't intend to make ice-based mixes with this unit. I was somewhat concerned about reviews saying the lid was messy, but other more expensive blenders also got the same complaints, so I decided to give this one a try. The blender arrived very quickly thanks to Amazon Prime, the manufacturer's box was dented on the outside, but inside the blender was fine. For my first use I decided to make a very basic green smoothie of broccoli and carrots with pear juice. I added four ounces of pear juice, three ounces of carrot slices, and four ounces of broccoli crowns. I pulsed the blender for a little over a minute; it handled the vegetables easily, turning everything into a thick course liquid. I didn't experience any splashing or leaking around the lid. It remained tightly sealed, and the slide cover at the top didn't leak or ooze. The slide on the lid is a double slide cover -- one on the inside of the lid, one on the outside of the lid. When you slide the cover, it moves both the inner and outer cover at the same time, a very effective design. I tested the smoothie and decided that it was a little thick for my taste, so I added an ounce of water and blended again. This time since the liquid was on top of the mixture, I did notice some splash against the lid, but still no leaks or oozing. I ended up blending in another ounce of water to get the smoothie to my desired consistency, still no leaks or oozing even when removing and replacing the lid. At this point I had thirteen ounces of mix in the blender, with no oozing or leaking issues. For those who complained that the lid leaked or oozed during blending or when removing or replacing the lid, I can only say that maybe they overloaded the blender past the 13.5 oz. (400ml) mark or didn't push the lid on to seal it properly. Some other reviewers noted a smell when then blender is in operation. It isn't a burning smell, more like the smell of new materials being exposed to the warmth of the motor, and it isn't strong enough in my opinion to warrant a negative comment. The motor was very quiet when compared to a full-sized blender, and was strong enough to liquefy my raw vegetables. I especially liked that all I had to do was twist the blending container off of the blender base and drink! No inverting and putting a different lid on like some other models. After drinking half of my smoothie, I decided to see if the lid would leak if the cup was inverted. I closed the slide cover, tipped the cup upside down, and it did not leak even a drop. I was watching a movie while drinking the smoothie and didn't clean the container for over half an hour after finishing the drink, but it rinsed clean in just under 20 seconds, lid and all. No sponge, brush, or blending required. I'm not sure how much more I could expect out of such an inexpensive blender. It was the lowest priced unit available, is quiet, fairly powerful, easy to clean, and very simple to use. And it came with two blending containers and lids. I'm very satisfied with this purchase, and highly recommend this blender. ... show more
