  • Great
Awesome as a private theater display. feels like you're in a cinema. Isn't trying to be anything more fancy than that and it's great if you just want something portable. Curious to see new versions/upgrades to this product in the future as well. I think it would be cool if in the future there could be an option to expand the 2D 1080 display to just cover the viewing space entirely so there's no black bars in any direction, although as previously stated i don't mind it looking like a theater. I prefer to watch Netflix and movies during the night when no light slips from the corners...the immersion I think works best when it's completely dark, so in well lit areas if I don't have some sort of cover to keep over the device to block out any extra light from slipping in I probably wouldn't use it. I did not experience excessive blurriness or image issues, picture quality is good in my book. ... show more

  • Really impressed, albeit not perfect.
I am thoroughly impressed with this HMD. I've been looking for an affordable head mounted display with flexibility for a while, but almost all you find on the market excessively expensive or display an extremely low resolution. The screens, while not perfect, are truly 720p LCD screens, one for each eye. The focus options are pretty simple to use and with some minor repositioning and brightness adjustment you can usually get a very clear picture. 3D content looks especially good, as there is no light pollution or glare to get in the way. The HDMI input is a hardwired cable you plug directly into your device, and attached to that is a usb cable for power. This makes the headset itself very light, as there is no built in power. Worst case scenario, you can just use a portable USB power bank to power them. But most devices have a USB port available. All in all the picture quality is more than acceptable, and with good source content it feels as good as your HDTV. Unfortunately, it is still a backlit LCD screen an inch from your eyes, and you are likely to experience some eyestrain with extended use. While this is of course not a VR headset, you can still play games. playing games in 2D is fun enough, but using Tridef 3D drivers you can play most of your games in 3d as long as you have a strong enough graphics card. Pros: -Flexible compatibility: connects to any HDMI device and supports 3 different 3D content types. Even in 2D it is great for most devices. -Light weight, thanks to no internal battery. -Comfortable headband once you take the time to adjust it. -Comes with a great hardshell carrying case and a short pair of earbuds to head your content. Cons: -LCD screens are not as clear or comfortable to view as more expensive OLED screens -The need for USB power makes it less portable, however USB power banks are inexpensive now. -Using the HDMI signal for sound with high volume sometimes causes noticeable interference in the video signal. This only happens with especially high volume sounds and very low frequencies. The entire problem is solved by using a different source for audio (such as a receiver or onboard sound card.) ... show more

  • Poor Resolution - The Description does warn of "Not intended for use on a Computer"
The Description is very accurate. I was very disappointed in the resolution in this pair of goggles, even though this pair has a large port hole for your eyes and a larger screen than the Avegant Gylph AG101, however navigating a computer desktop was not easy with the poor resolution, you couldn't read anything. The lens adjustments were decent. The Pupil distance lines up well enough, however it was hard to get the focus set due to the poor resolution. On top of that, the goggle set will display any resolution, up to 1920x1080 even though the screens are NOT 1080p. Another killer for me was the screens seemed to be out of sync by a fraction of a second and with any quick movement, you would see the object advance on the left screen then the right screen causing a very annoying jerk of motion. The pair comes with ear buds that I didn't try (I had my own), the HDMI/USB cord is only about 4 feet long. The goggles do have adjustments for the Brightness, aspect ratio, 3D activation button (even though I would think that would be automatic on the signal the goggles received) and volume. Again, I wanted to be impressed with this pair of Goggles, but the poor Resolution killed this for me in a minute flat. Compared to the Avegant Gylph goggles for 150, these are NOT worth 200. ... show more
