The pad was designed well. I bought this to soften an extra firm mattress. Im always hesitant when I see 1 star reviews but if you have amazon prime, just get it and try it out. If you don't like it you can alway return it. I stopped by home on my lunch break and opened everything up to air out. It came tightly rolled and wrapped. I've always been a little leery about purchasing a memory foam topper since I'm a walking space heater and my least favorite thing is sweating in my sleep. There's literally nothing worse than dreaming of swimming in your Beverly Hills mansion backyard pool, enjoying the spoils of being rich and famous...and then waking up to realize your Beverly Hills mansion is your sad two bedroom apartment and your pool is nothing more than the sagging part of your old mattress filled with a quarter inch of perspiration. However, this beautiful sleep spongecake helps keeps me comfy and cool all night. This mattress topper is my magic carpet that's delivering me to a whole new world of comfort. Unfortunately, it doesn't help me stay cool in any other aspect of my life, like when I'm trying to talk to women. Still need some help there. Hit me up if you come up with a product for that. TL; DR - This helped turn my everyday nothing-special-whatsoever sad sack of a bed into a comfortable, luxurious fancy-pants bed fit for someone who can afford to add guac to their carnitas bowl. Usually don't write reviews, but wanted to share this experience! This mattress topper by Viscosoft is wonderful!! I ordered it after reading many reviews in a last ditch effort to find something to "soften" the feel of our new memory foam mattress. We had recently gotten a new, rather expensive memory foam mattress and it was much too firm for my husband. I got a topper at Bed Bath and Beyond...but that did not help. I ordered this 4" dual layer ViscoSoft topper through Amazon and received it in 2 days! Upon unwrapping the product, it appeared to be too short in length (see photo). I knew that this type of product "plumps" up after unwrapping, but I had never seen one this short. I called the customer service number and to my delight, got an operator immediately. She was very helpful and pleasant and assured me that a new one would be sent out if the problem persisted, but thought that it would be ok when it had time to expand. In fact, in about an hour, it was fine! Bottom line, this is the BEST and most comfortable mattress topper we've ever experienced. It softened our very firm mattress and gave it a perfect feel. No odor like some foam products, and not hot. Love the elasticized edges of the quilted top layer which gives a super snug fit to the mattress. Highly recommend, especially if you need to soften a firm mattress. ... show more

Love it!!! I have a Sleep Number bed, but I opted out of the extra memory foam topper, went with 2". Which was a mistake because I clearly needed more support and pressure point relief as I was tossing and turning all night (see photos for restless sleep) however with SN the add-ons become very expensive. So I made this purchase as an alternative option and I do not regret it. My bed tracks my movements so I added 3 photos to support my review. First 2 are before I added this topper. I've been having horrible neck pain for months now. I've been seeing a chiropractor which helped short term. I've bought pillow after pillow trying anything to stop my neck from waking me up after a few hours of sleep. The pain was so bad that it'd turn in to a full blown migraine! Horrible! So I decide to approach the problem from a different angle. I've had the bed for a few years now, its quite firm and while its been ok up to this point I thought I'd try a topper, cheaper than a new mattress. OMG!! This topper is awesome! Not too soft, very well made, the two part topper is perfect. The uppermost part is made of nice quality material, washable and soft. Not too puffy, really nice quality. The lower foam portion is nice, dense pad, also good quality. It's weird, when you first unpack it its all squished up and condensed but it 'puffs' up after spreading it out on the mattress. Pros: * Incredibly well made, excellent quality *Washable *Softens a too firm mattress *With this quality I can see this being used for many years. *It seems to help to keep the bed from moving when spouse and pets are on the bed. *Inserts are pretty, glossy and they have a french bulldog picture. You can never go wrong w/a cute dog graphic plus I appreciate someone thanking me for buying their product. Better than IKEA like inserts that come in 4 different languages and are cheaply printed. Nice gesture! Cons: *The foam had a slight odor initially, not horrible, reminded me of a muscle rub ointment. It only lasted about a week. I wish I had the patience to air it out a few days but I was way too excited to get it on my bed and try it out. *Price - it was a commitment but like I said its so well made I know I'll get my money out of it. *Heat- I sleep warm anyway and I'm warmer than normal on this pad. I don't think its the pad itself, I think the padding comes up around the body (when you sink down) in a way that will just make a person warmer. Good if you're a 'lizard/always cold' person. It's not bad enough to give it up tho. *A personal con, I don't know how I'm going to be able to sleep without it. It's super great! And for the reviewers that expect this to fix a sagging bed, not to be rude but DUH! If your mattress has a sink hole then its time to choke up the money and buy a new mattress. No topper is going to fix a pot hole! ... show more
