  • Easy to use
The directions were easy to follow, and easy to use. Would buy it again very please with merchandise. Works really well

  • Weather enthusiasts
It’s easy to read, the temperature is not accurate though. The battery life is great. I would say it’s good if you have a light breeze and want to know the speed.

  • Cool Device
With this, now I can tell how much windage I have to push left or right to the direction and speed of the wind whenever I go to the range. Once you've installed the batteries, it works right away once you turn it on. Setup was very easy when going through the instructions. Once I got it to my liking, then it told me pertinent information I need to accurize my windage adjustments. As for the quality of this device, it's pretty solid. There's a bit of grip for the handle, not a whole lot but enough for you to hold it pretty solid. The buttons are easy to read. There is a flashlight as well that you can read a map while it gets dark. Overall, it's worth the price once you've installed the 9v battery. ... show more

  • Handy for Drone flying and AC filter check Handy for Drone flying and AC filter check
This is a nice hand held Anemometer; fairly easy to use as well. I use it for wind speed and average wind direction when flying my drone. I am not good at judging wind direction, so I slowly move the wind Anemometer through an arc in the general direction of the wind, until I find the direction from which I get the highest speed. This works well especially when the breeze is below 5 mph. A second use I found for this Anemometer is to check when my AC filters are really due for replacing, rather than automatically replacing them every 3 months. When I do a filter change, I hold the Anemometer up to the same vent each time that is closest to the air handler. For my AC unit and duct design, a 7 mph air flow is ideal. Every month I do a quick check. And like clockwork, when the wind speed drops to about 4.8 to 5 mph then it's time to change the filter. This can vary from 2 to 4 months between filter changes. Now for the negatives that made me deduct one star: 1. This Anemometer requires a 9 volt battery which is not included. The battery cover is held in place by a tiny screw. It's time consuming to change the battery. And if you drop that little screw, the chances of finding it are near zero. 2. To switch it on you need to tap the red on-button once. To switch it off requires holding down the red button for several seconds. This should have been reversed. The problem comes once the Anemometer is in the soft supplied storage bag. Any inadvertent bump/tap on the red button, when it's in the bag, switches it on, and then only to find the 9 volt battery dead when I need to use it again. To solve this problem I now use it with the battery cover permanently off, and when packing it away I remove the battery. At least the battery tends to stay in place without the cover when using it. Other than the above issues , it’s a nice unit to have for which I found 3 uses: Wind Speed, Wind direction and AC filter change. • Compact, accurate, essential features, inexpensive
This requires a 9 volt battery (not included). However once installed it's pretty intuitive to set up, although if you need to refer to the instructions, the type is so small you will be using a magnifying glass. You need wind about 1MPH +to register. I checked it against a professional instrument I have and it's pretty accurate. Certainly for drone flying and long range target shooting. It DOES NOT calculate CFM and it's likely not a tool for HVAC people. It has an area light, backlit digital screen there are hand grips on the sides. For $26.99 (as of this review) it's good to go in a field bag and suitable for most but not all applications. If you are looking for more functions or absolute accuracy, be prepared to shell out 2-5X the money. I RECOMMEND. ... show more

  • works great, nice case, but uses 9v battery works great, nice case, but uses 9v battery
This wind speed meter seems to work great. I don't have a calibrated wind tunnel to test it with. However, It's readings match my two anemometers. note: It does not do CFM calculations like it claims. No wind speed meter can give you CFM all on it's own. However, you can use this to calculate CFM if you know the duct/outlet size [area] It has several nice features: 1) nice case that includes a pocket for the manual 2) led light on the back to light up the area your measuring 3) tripod mount 4) auto-off 5) temperature reading 6) knots - great for kite fliers/drone pilots/model air plane pilots/and sailors. It also has some things I don't like: 1) 9 volt battery...the 1970's called, they want their battery back. Ideally, this should be usb rechargeable or at least use AA/AAA batteries 2) the battery connectors aren't polarized. There's nothing but a hard to read diagram inside the battery compartment and my poor eyesight to keep me from putting in the battery backwards - which is very easy to do with a 9 volt battery. Putting in a 9 volt battery backwards will often fry most device and I wasn't brave enough to purposely try that with this device. 3) when measuring in feet/second, it often shows 1/10th the true speed and adds on a 'x10' indicator. I'll admit multiplying by 10 is easy, but it's irritating to have to do this just because they didn't want to add an extra digit to their display. It also makes the display seem 'jumpy' as you bounce around 90 feet/second [about point it adds the x10]. Overall, I like this meter and think it will be useful for years to come; but I'll probably stop using it at some point when I get tired of hunting down 9 volt batteries. ... show more

  • Cheap
The unit is big but cheap feeling. It’s light but the large prop will not give sensitive readings. It takes a 9V batter which tells me this is old old old. There is NO volume reading, only velocity. A velocity meter should be smaller and more sensitive for things like long range shooting. This doesn’t have the commercial functions for a unit this size to have, The is clear friction on the prop. It come ]s wiht a very cheap case. Better than nothing and I guess it matches the cheapness of the meter. ... show more

  • Needs 9V battery (not included), does NOT measure CFM as description claims
The description won't tell you this, but this unit takes a standard 9V battery, and it's NOT included. You'll also need a screwdriver to open the battery compartment. Better make it a magnetic screwdriver, because the screw is NOT captive. The compartment has a pair of UNPOLARIZED spring contacts at the bottom; this provides no protection against putting the battery in backwards. (The polarity is embossed on the back of the compartment, but it's grey-on-grey, and you'll have a hard time seeing it if the lighting's poor.) That's a tool-ruining accident waiting to happen. The description claims that this provides accurate CFM readings for HVAC workers. I hope actual HVAC workers will know better. This unit will report only air VELOCITY in m/s, ft/min, knots, km/h, or mph. If you want CFM, you need to do a lot of math, starting with the duct dimensions, and including measurements at the center and edges of the duct, and including corrections for the resistance of the anemometer, which the manual won't tell you. The manual says this will measure velocity in mph with a threshold of 0.7mph. I couldn't get it to read anything lower than 1mph, and readings there weren't especially stable. The rotor gives a slight plastic-on-plastic friction sound while it's spinning, and tends to counter-rotate once the wind stops. I hope the unit's calibration takes this into effect; I don't have a wind tunnel to do absolute accuracy testing. It gives plausible readings at the low velocities I was able to test (walking speed). Two stars off for not including a battery (or better yet making the unit RECHARGEABLE), for making it easy to lose the screw that holds the battery compartment closed, and for making it easy to insert the battery backward. I won't take off stars for the confusion over CFM measurement, because anyone wanting to measure CFM probably already knows better. This product is usable, but sooner or later I'll either lose the battery screw or put a battery in backward, and that'll be the end of its usefulness. Given that, I can't really recommend this product. ... show more
