My 80 year old neighbor, Joe, had his license pulled by his Doctor because of balance issues. He had an 2000 F-150 that he did not know what to do with, so he sold it to me. CHEAP!!! It's an awesome pickup, a little TLC and it'll be even better. As giddy as I was about getting another pickup at such a screaming good deal, I felt guilty. I do not know why, I didn't invalidate his license... but I did take his independence, in a fashion. I bought him this electric trike to give him his legs back. It has enough of a range that he can get anywhere in town he wishes, and a basket that his dog, Tiny, rides in too! All the other old-farts at the assisted living place used to gloat because they had mobility scooters and he didn't. Man, are they jealous now!!! I only built it for him, never have ridden it, so I cannot comment on any of that. But to see his beaming smile as he goes down the road tells me it was worth it!!! Oh, it's a LOT more complicated to build than you would expect, but the instructions were clear, precise and walked you through step by step. We live in Montana and Joe commented that the trike was a little dicey in the snow, but it wasn't designed for that. Our fix was to take the street tires that came with a trike off and replace them with knobby mountain bike tires. It was a little better, but I think any bicycle would suck in a foot of snow!
