  • Better Than Expected
Size: 4 Frames
This four tray extractor is much nicer than I expected considering the price. It's well built, sturdy, and easy to use. I found that placing the trays at an angle speeds up the process quite a bit. I'm 5'2 and have the legs on the shortest setting, which probably helps with sturdiness as well. Once the honey fills enough to cover the bottom on the rackets, you have to manually tilt the entire extractor to get the honey through the honey gate. That's really the only design flaw that I've run into so far. The honey fills, making it hard to spin, and the honey gate it too high up to relieve the weight. ASSEMBLY: The instructions are terrible and basically just say "assemble the extractor". The mini brochure it comes with is also not written by a native English speaker. Overall, the extractor is great. Just has a few slight inconveniences. I would still recommend it. ... show more

  • Great Value for the Money
Size: 4 Frames
I have been using the Vingli 4 frame manual extractor for a couple years now. As a backyard beekeeper with 5 hives, this product is the bees knees. All stainless steel components, sloping bottom, well designed and constructed. I use a heat gun to LIGHTLY unseal the wax cappings right over the top of the extractor. This yields good results with little mess. A bucket of warm water nearby minimizes clean up. As I extract medium supers and deep frames together, I like other reviewers also experienced considerable shaking when the extractor basket was not balanced evenly. I solved this problem by mounting the extractor on a plywood sheet and then clamping the plywood to a wheeled moving dolly. The extractor still shakes but the wheels on the dolly minimize the overall movement. I also will double up on the frames in the basket if one side is heavier than the opposite side. A previously extracted frame added to the slot with the frame to be extracted will provide a little more weight to compensate for the needed balance. Cleaning the wire basket of wax and propolis can be a chore. However, cold water and wire brushing over the backyard grass gets most of it off easily. I hope this review will help first time beekeepers better enjoy the honey extraction process. ... show more

  • Very happy with it
Size: 4 Frames
We have been bee keepers for three years and had been borrowing from friends. We were tired of planning our honey extraction around everyone else’s schedules, so we got our own. This absolutely works. I am glad I got a four frame versus a two, because extraction was fast. We had some minor irritations. This baby flies when it’s going. My husband was turning the crank and my son and I were each standing on a foot and holding the extractor down. It does have holes in the feet for screwing it down, but we don’t have a permanent home for it just yet. But even holding the feet down, it sure does rock. It wipes clean easy. It was easy enough to put together, but there weren’t instructions. Just a few vague pictures. And we had a few extra parts that we still don’t know what they are for. Overall, it was nice to control my own operation. It was great to have four over two frame. I think two would be just fine, and if space is an issue, go with two. It looks sharp. Our gate worked fine and was at a perfect height for putting our honey buckets with sieve under the honey gate. ... show more

  • four frame extractor is impressive
Size: 4 Frames
I cant tell for sure but it appears the drum and legs are made of a nice heavy 14 gauge stainless steel. The plexiglass covers fit well. The gear box has no lash or slop when you turn the crank. If you do find any slop while cranking the handle I found it to be in the linkage to the basket and that was fixed by tightening the bolt with the supplied crescent wrench. The gearing is about two and a half rotations of the basket for every rotation of the handle 2.5 :1. I have read some reviews where people want to attach a drill to the gear box. That sounds like a good way to destroy the gears. The basket with nothing in it is very well balanced. If you put honey frames in the basket they wont be perfectly balanced so bolt it to some half inch plywood big enough that you can stand on it while you crank. I think the honey gate is made of cast stainless steel. A silicone gasket installed to provide a honey tight seal and a spare one is provided by the manufacturer. I am impressed. Most of the time you find extractors with plastic honey gates. Common sense would tell you that a thorough cleaning is necessary before use. Assembly is also very simple with the provided wrench even without instructions. With reasonable care it looks to me like this extractor should last a very long time. I am not compensated for this review and I don't write reviews unless I REALY feel like a product is exceptional and at a fair price point. ... show more

  • Sturdy, Easy to Assemble, Packaged Well.
Size: 4 Frames
I just received the Vingli Honey Extractor for 4 frames. Box arrived in good shape and contents were well packaged. Easy to assemble and took only a few minutes. Instructions were minimal but was easy to figure out except for the spare o-ring and spare "L" shaped bolt. I didn't use it with frames yet but I spun it empty and it spins really well. Did not wobble but expect when frames are in there it will be off balance. Plan on making a 24" wide x 48" long base out of 3/4" plywood for stability per other recommendations I have read. That should make it easy to move around too with a helper. Sturdy and well built. I believe this will do the job it is designed for very well especially at this price point. I am a new backyard beekeeper so I don't plan on having too many frames in a harvest. Manual extractor is good for me. ... show more
