  • Works good but a little shaky on the legs
Size: 3 Frames
I do like this spinner to get the honey off the combs. It’s got a wide opening which is easy to slide the combs in and the mechanism to hand crank seems pretty sturdy. I’m not so sure about how sturdy the legs are. At first I just placed it on the ground and noticed as I cranked it that it shook a lot. I screws it down to thick plywood which did help but noticed that it still shakes a lot and I had to retighten the bolts attaching the legs to the tank. I kind of leaned against the tank as I cranked it to hep steady it but may look into another way to steady it more then the three legs it comes with. This product is easy to clean and use which is wonderful. ... show more

  • Great Value for the Money
Size: 4 Frames
I have been using the Vingli 4 frame manual extractor for a couple years now. As a backyard beekeeper with 5 hives, this product is the bees knees. All stainless steel components, sloping bottom, well designed and constructed. I use a heat gun to LIGHTLY unseal the wax cappings right over the top of the extractor. This yields good results with little mess. A bucket of warm water nearby minimizes clean up. As I extract medium supers and deep frames together, I like other reviewers also experienced considerable shaking when the extractor basket was not balanced evenly. I solved this problem by mounting the extractor on a plywood sheet and then clamping the plywood to a wheeled moving dolly. The extractor still shakes but the wheels on the dolly minimize the overall movement. I also will double up on the frames in the basket if one side is heavier than the opposite side. A previously extracted frame added to the slot with the frame to be extracted will provide a little more weight to compensate for the needed balance. Cleaning the wire basket of wax and propolis can be a chore. However, cold water and wire brushing over the backyard grass gets most of it off easily. I hope this review will help first time beekeepers better enjoy the honey extraction process. ... show more

  • four frame extractor is impressive
Size: 4 Frames
I cant tell for sure but it appears the drum and legs are made of a nice heavy 14 gauge stainless steel. The plexiglass covers fit well. The gear box has no lash or slop when you turn the crank. If you do find any slop while cranking the handle I found it to be in the linkage to the basket and that was fixed by tightening the bolt with the supplied crescent wrench. The gearing is about two and a half rotations of the basket for every rotation of the handle 2.5 :1. I have read some reviews where people want to attach a drill to the gear box. That sounds like a good way to destroy the gears. The basket with nothing in it is very well balanced. If you put honey frames in the basket they wont be perfectly balanced so bolt it to some half inch plywood big enough that you can stand on it while you crank. I think the honey gate is made of cast stainless steel. A silicone gasket installed to provide a honey tight seal and a spare one is provided by the manufacturer. I am impressed. Most of the time you find extractors with plastic honey gates. Common sense would tell you that a thorough cleaning is necessary before use. Assembly is also very simple with the provided wrench even without instructions. With reasonable care it looks to me like this extractor should last a very long time. I am not compensated for this review and I don't write reviews unless I REALY feel like a product is exceptional and at a fair price point. ... show more

  • Solid Honey Extractor
I purchased this in advance of my first ever honey harvest and was very satisfied with the quality of the product and the results (nearly 3 gallons of delicious honey from one full 8-frame super). A few notes: 1) Definitely give it a good cleaning with soapy water or a food grade cleaner prior to first use. There were some metal filings and industrial grease in mine when it arrived, which was expected (the instructions say to clean it before using too). 2) Be sure to tighten all the bolts well before use. This is essentially a centrifuge (operates just like a salad spinner or washing machine drum) and any imbalance can cause wobbling that can loosen bolts that haven’t been adequately secured. 3) The metal edge on the inside of the legs is pretty sharp and could possibly cut a finger. I’ve read some reviews where this was mitigated by sanding down the edges. I just put a strip of electrical tape along the edges and this worked fine. 4) If possible, bolt down the feet to further avoid wobbling. Otherwise your going to end up using your body weight to hold it down and keep steady. Overall, this product was easy and quick to assemble, functions well as intended, and appears to be well built for many years of use. It is also easy to clean with warm soapy water. For the price I’d consider it a good value and would recommend it to others getting into beekeeping/honey extraction. ... show more

  • Wobbly but gets the job done
Size: 2 Frames
I wasn’t too impressed, it gets the job done but it’s also wobbly as hell, so I fixed it to a board that I stand on, it still wobbles, but not as bad.
