  • Good overall, smooth price performer for sports video setup
This tripod has a good mix of features, performance and durability for the pricepoint and has been flawless for 2 full lacrosse games with a Panasonic HCV770 camcorder. Before settling on this model - I used a basic model ($30) which was portable and light, but was not stable or smooth panning - the wind blew it over and it is remarkable that my camera still worked after. Tried a larger fluid head models ~$120 (e.g. Neweer) and the fluid head would jerk as little bit before the drag would kick in. After the initial jerk, the panning was smooth, but had a lot of resistance and sometimes a tripod leg would lift up during pan. This VILTROX tripod seems to have solved both of the common budget fluid head issues and offers a very stable base, nice carry bag, and smooth panning, which was critical for my primary use - filming lacrosse games from high in the stands. ... show more

  • Just totally Awesome...
Someone from customer service called to see if it had arrived and any problems, it actually much sooner than expected, no problems with shipping and handling, I bought used, but I truly cant see this not being new, It looked brand new. The price was very affordable even if you did pay the new price, I cant believe I have this beautiful, sturdy tripod for my camera. I actually felt proud to have bought it. Its everything the reviews described and more. Im use to the cheaper ones, I have my own production company now and this tripod is more than meets my needs, it also has a powerful look and feel about it, ill order a few more. This heavy duty tripod, is easy too operate and a small person like me is able to handle it with ease. Im totally satisfied, and recommend this handsome tripod to everyone. this is a great product, that's durable, heavy and is all that's described, awesome customers service, no problem with shipping and handling. one of the reasons I bought this is because I hadn't seen any negative reviews for this tripod, but seeing is believing , the feeling you receive when you take it out the box and stand it up. It was like Christmas. 2 thumbs up. ... show more

  • A solid, very tall but HEAVY beast
I needed another tripod for video shooting and particularly wanted something that could go up very tall. This one goes up a total of 74" tall and doesn't use a center column to do that, so even at full extension things stay very stable. The fluid head seems to be a knock off of the one Manfrotto makes and at least to me seems about the same. This is a heavy beast though, made almost entirely of metal it is about 9 pounds and is said to handle a 22 pound load. Because of the knob locks and the way the legs work it takes a little bit longer to setup than a tripod with snap-locks on the legs. Probably not what you want for run-and-gun shooting but if you're not constantly grabbing and moving the thing around it should be fine. Overall it works good and comes with a sturdy carrying case. ... show more

  • Solid video tripod
It's a video tripod, so it's not supposed to be light. On the other hand, it's fairly manageable. You wouldn't take it with you in the mountains, but for a permanent video shooting setup its next to perfect. The setup is very simple, it has a nice flexible rod which allows to position head ideally flat even if the surface is uneven. The only drawback i noticed so far is that the fluid head is kinda hard to move horizontally. The lever doesn't seem to make movement any easier, even if fully turned to the left. Not sure if this is just mine copy or is common for the whole line. So I need to hold the tripod when rotating camera left or right. Overall, very solid piece ... show more

  • Near-Manfrotto quality, at a fraction of the price!!
Lets be honest: if you are a professional photog or videographer, you're going to invest in Manfrotto-quality tripods...but if you are a budding rock band videographer like myself, you cannot spend that kind of cash, for something that's going to get banged around, stepped on, dowsed with spilled beer cups, etc. So, for a fraction of the cost, you can have this beauty, with ALMOST the same quality and performance. I personally don't use it for active filming, I lock it down and put a static camera on. But it excels at easy of movement and adjustability...and it's practically 8 feet tall with a camera on it, so I can easily see over everyone's heads at a show. In short, it's perfect for my needs!! **9 Month-later UPDATE** Welp, this thing is the sturdiest low-cost tripod I've ever owned! I have used it for at least a dozen band gigs, and it's still very sturdy and hold it's own very well...and I've discovered that because I have to put it in narrow confines, the end result due to the long tripod legs is that you can duct-tape down the feet and end up with a tripod cam thats easily over 7 feet tall (84 inches). That's not always going to work, and for the best stability, you need to swing the legs wide out...but just FYI, this thing is has become a "regular" tool in my videography arsenal! ... show more

  • Perfect tripod for filming interviews with Teleprompter
I was in need of a tripod that could handle some heavy gear. I shoot interviews a lot and we use a heavy teleprompter and a heavy lens on my GH5 camera. I really needed to find a tripod that could handle that and not stress me out while using it. I've rented tripods that looked like it would tip over or snap at the legs.. but not this one. I enjoyed this tripod for my situation more than my friends $600 bendro tripod. It's smooth at panning and tilting even with the heavy teleprompter on it. The legs are strong and I really enjoy the horseshoe bottoms because they have grip to event sliding. I googled it and I think it holds up to around 24lbs which is perfect for my setup. The locking system is also pretty amazing as you twist to lock which is smoother! The only con is that the head might not be the best option as it seems to be more plastic than anything. My other baseplates wouldn't fit it either but obviously the one it came with is good. You can always spend more money on a better head for it, but I don't plan to do that. Ah I can't forget to also say it feels so good to have a carrying bag for the tripod too! Thanks for also providing that Viltrox! ... show more
