This bench is made from premium grade Eucalyptus Grandis hardwood, grown in 100% well managed forests. There is little difference between Eucalyptus and Teak when broken down to their core essence. The biggest attribute of Eucalyptus is undoubtedly the strength of the timber. It is renowned for its excellent resistance to every day wear and tear. It is extremely durable and tightly grained to produce a desirable density. It remains unaffected by all variations in weather, especially its resistance to damp conditions makes itself extremely competent at combating insect attacks and decay.

The bench is great for outdoors, but the finish isn't nice enough to be used as an inside furniture piece. Also, you should put a couple coats of marine varnish if you want it to last for several years exposed to the elements. I put two coats of Epifanes matte finish on the bench shown in the picture. PRO TIP: Apply the finish before assembly, so that the joints are protected too. I bought a similar bench on Amazon 3 years ago, and it just recently fell apart because I applied the varnish *after* assembly. The joints rotted because they were not protected. Hopefully the joints won't rot with this bench since I put a few coats of varnish on before assembly. I did have some problems attaching the seat to the frame, because the screws were not long enough. As a result, I had to drew a few extra holes and use some 2" deck screws to securely attach the seat.

We needed a nice garden bench to replace our years-old crumbly one. This looked like a good choice. It was! It was delivered today at 4:40pm, and at 5:20pm I’m on my iPad writing a review. Of course I cannot comment on its endurance in this outside Florida weather, but it looks better than any of the much higher priced benches I saw. The instructions could have been a little more detailed, but with five pieces of lumber, and ten screws, it came together fairly easily. Sitting on it felt very sturdy. I used my screw gun and stripped one screw head (3/16” Allen), but the rest went well. The product came with an two Allen wrenches. There are two Phillips Head screws for the seat, so be sure you have the screwdriver for it. We are talking about something for the front porch, and eyeing a second bench. This probably will be our first choice.

This bench is excellent. It looks very elegant and already complements my yard. It arrived quickly and all the parts were complete. It took about 20 minutes to assemble, probably quicker with some help. I applied a coat of "Minwax Pro Series Spar Urethane Indoor/Outdoor" on the bench to give it some protection from the direct sun. Even after a couple of months in the direct sun, it looks great. The bench is sturdy and a nice color. It's comfortable to sit on and can comfortably accommodate 2 adults, or squeeze tightly 3 adults.

The bench looks very nice. I like it. The assembly would have been really simple, too, only if the groove (or tongue) of the bar connecting the two handrests fit. It was angled wrong and no matter how I tried it wouldn't go in. So I had to chip one side. I'm satisfied with the bench, but didn't like the shaving the tongue part at all.

I like this bench, didn't have any trouble putting it together by myself. (Not as great as my beloved previous bench, but that one finally gave up after many years.) I haven't made up my mind yet about the finish. Although the listing says it is finished, it doesn't appear to have any protection and I'm worried about it being in Michigan weather, unfortunately all year round, although it will be covered in winter. I saw several suggestions in the Q&A - poly, oil, paint, stain. I just haven't decided what will be the best solution for protection. Have to decide soon - winter comes eventually.

Looks good. I waited a little bit to review because I wanted to see how it weathered a few storms and sun. Now it is only a month or two old and already I am seeing some cracks from hot sun. I do not think this item will weather years outside well, which is disappointing.

Having read a pile of reviews on this, I was leery, but figured for the price, what the heck. It arrived in perfect, well-packaged condition, was super-simple to assemble, has been out on a very sunny deck for maybe not quite 2 months, shows no sign of wear/fade, and this little thing is sturdy! I have 4 grandsons (ages 4, 7, 9, 11) who visit a lot, and this bench has easily withstood them. In addition, I’m 6’6”, 280#, and there is nary a wiggle when I land on it. The ONLY negative thing I can say about this bench is that it could use cushioning on the bottom. I’ll find one or have one made this winter. Or maybe I’m just getting soft...

Soooo one of the pieces arrived broke. I believe this is a manufacturer error and not shipping. The box was fine. We were able to apply gorilla glue and add an additional nail for support. Normally I would've returned it but I didn't feel like putting it back in the box. Another con is they should've provided some type of screw driver to help with assembly. The screws are different and we had a hard time finding something to fit.
